The Director of the Warburg Library will work closely with the Associate Head of School and academic department heads solidifying Middlesex’s library as a center for campus learning. The ideal candidate will administer library databases, care for the book collection, and stay abreast of emerging technologies to enhance our library program. This role includes overseeing the library space, managing the library budget, building networks with school and library professionals outside of Middlesex, and actively participating in School committees. A Master's degree in Library Science or equivalent from an American Library Association-accredited program is preferred as is experience working as a librarian in an educational setting.The Director of the Warburg Library reports to the Associate Head of School and provides essential support to the Middlesex community and academic program. The Director attends all faculty meetings, acts as an advisor to students, and serves on evening and weekend duty teams. Competitive salary and benefits, including a strong professional development program, will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.Principal Responsibilities:Provide innovative and strategic leadership in developing and managing the school library's resources.Collaborate with faculty and academic departments to support curriculum needs and student learning objectives.Administer and maintain the library's databases and digital resources. Care for and curate the collection of books and other physical resources.Research, develop, and apply emerging technologies to promote library programming.Manage the library budget effectively, ensuring wise resource allocation and supporting the library’s mission and goals.Supervise and optimize library space to create an inviting, engaging, and functional learning environment. Contribute to strategic planning for the library imagining future use of the facility.Build and maintain networks with local and national library and school professionals to ensure Middlesex’s program is aligned with best practices.Foster and support student research and library utilization to promote independent thinking and lifelong learning.The role requires outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills, a proven ability to balance the needs of multiple constituents, and a passion for exploring ways to support and further the mission of the School.Middlesex School is committed to bringing together a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
