Read on to find out what you will need to succeed in this position, including skills, qualifications, and experience.The Director, Oncology External Communications, is an expert strategic communications business partner who reports to the Senior Director, Oncology Communications Lead within the Corporate Affairs division at Pfizer. The Candidate is responsible for driving end-to-end external communications activities in support of the bladder cancer portfolio, including direct responsibility for PADCEV in its approved indications and future lifecycle and the bladder cancer pipeline, including two late-stage assets (sasanlimab and DisitamabVedotin). This role is also responsible for working closely with the Pfizer prostate cancer communications lead to further the reputation of Pfizer in the genitourinary category among key stakeholders.The Candidate is responsible for managing all relevant communications deliverables, programs and events, and for providing general communications support and counsel to U.S. and global commercial, as well the R&D teams. The candidate will provide communications counsel to senior leaders on an ongoing basis and collaborate across Corporate Affairs and other enabling functions. He or She will ensure seamless coordination with region and country communications, working closely with region communications leads. The Candidate is also responsible for managing PR agencies and budget in support of this work.ROLE RESPONSIBILITIESManages all external communication plans, including product and disease state communications in support of business objectives.

Helps oversee the development of Pfizer GU narrative, storytelling and external engagement strategy.

Prepares global comprehensive annual Communications and Public Relations programs.

Drives communications strategies for PADCEV communications and unbranded PR programs, in partnership with the Astellas alliance.

Leads communications activities for early & late-stage bladder pipeline assets for bladder cancer.

Leads medical meeting communication strategy and execution.

Manages day-to-day work of external agencies and tracks progress against pre-determined objectives.

Effectively manages allocated PR budget and resources in cooperation with Marketing and other internal stakeholders.

Builds strong relationships with Legal, Medical, and Regulatory Affairs partners.

Builds strong partnerships with Corporate Affairs colleagues, global and regions.

Serves as Communications representative on appropriate teams.

Practices effective issues management, managing plans, materials and the issues process.

Builds relationships and works with third-party organizations, advocacy groups and key opinion leaders on educational programs.

Drafts press releases, Q&A, statements and other written material for use with media.

Ensures alignment with global media relations and investor relations on all external programs and business issues.

Keeps abreast of market dynamics and external forces that impact brands/category.

Develops and maintains knowledge of communications best practices and adopts for use when appropriate.

QualificationsMUST-HAVE:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.

10+ years of experience in Communications, Public Relations.

Excellent networking and relationship-building skills.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Excellent analytical, problem solving and planning capabilities.

Ability to counsel and interface successfully with senior executives.

Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills and strong competency with tools.

Ability to develop, implement and measure success of communications plans.

Ability to assimilate strategic information and convert it into clear and concise messages.

Ability to work effectively across functions and levels across a highly matrixed organization.

Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects against tight deadlines.

Commitment to excellence in work product and deliverables.

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

NICE-TO-HAVE:PR Agency experience, strongly preferred.

Experience in healthcare/pharma sector, specifically Oncology, strongly preferred.

Experience in Marketing a plus.

Experience managing alliance relationships preferred.

Experience in developing, managing and implementing high-science communications and public relations plans in a large, matrixed organization a plus.

Experience in building franchise positioning and corporate platforms.

Work Location Assignment: Must be able to work from assigned Pfizer office 2-3 days per week, or as needed by the business.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $149,200.00 to $248,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share-based long-term incentive program.
