The Executive Director, Corporate Communications, is a key role for Madrigal Pharmaceuticals and will be a major contributor in shaping the future success of the company. Reporting to the V.P. of Corporate Communications and Patient Advocacy, the Executive Director, Corporate Communications will be responsible for developing comprehensive communication strategies that enhance the company's reputation, brand, and stakeholder relationships. They will serve as a strategic partner to support the communication needs of internal leaders and work collaboratively with multiple departments to drive the launch of Rezdiffra, Madrigal's first-to-market therapy for patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).

Position Responsibilities:
Strategic Communications Planning
  • Develop and implement communication strategies that align with Madrigal's business objectives.
  • Lead the creation of communication plans for major corporate initiatives, product milestones, and events.
  • Drive collaboration and communications alignment with internal partners, including the Marketing, Medical Affairs, Investor Relations, Patient Advocacy and Human Resources teams.
Brand and Reputation Management
  • Protect and enhance the Madrigal's brand and reputation through strategic communication efforts.
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage, public sentiment, and industry trends to inform communication strategies.
Internal Communications
  • Partner with the Human Resources team to support internal communication initiatives and culture building.
  • Collaborate with Commercial leaders to support strategic communications for the Rezdiffra launch team and enhance connectivity across the organization.
  • Oversee internal communication strategies to ensure consistent messaging and employee engagement.
Corporate Digital Presence
  • Manage content strategy for the Madrigal corporate website.
  • Oversee content development for Madrigal corporate social media channels.
Media Relations
  • Manage the development of press releases, fact sheets, media pitches, editorials and other communications resources to engage the media.
  • Coordinate interviews with journalists and oversee media relations programs.
Issues Management
  • Monitor and prepare for risks to Madrigal's corporate reputation and threats to Madrigal's business, including competitor activity.
  • Develop and implement issues management and crisis communication plans to effectively manage and mitigate risks.
Budget Planning and Management
  • Manage the corporate communications budget effectively, ensuring optimal allocation of resources for maximum impact.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing other team members and leading a communications team.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful communication strategies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and manage crises effectively.
  • Proficiency in using communication tools and platforms, including social media and content management systems.
  • This role requires business travel to key conferences and meetings, and the position will be based in either Madrigal's Conshohocken, PA or Waltham, MA office.
Compensation:
Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits, which include flexible paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.
