The Urban Land Institute (ULI), the oldest and largest network of cross-disciplinary real estate and land use experts in the world, is looking for a Graphic Designer to help bring our mission—shaping the future of the industry and creating thriving communities around the globe—to life. This individual will be responsible for working with our Creative Team and freelance collaborators to execute design for diverse end products (digital, print, environmental, and multimedia), serving internal clients across the organization and around the world. The person hired for this role will be part of a team responsible for establishing best practices across the organization for on-brand communications and visual design.

The position is full-time, exempt, and located in Washington, D.C. It reports to the Creative Services Director.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate with internal and external clients including the Membership, Member Engagement, Digital Marketing, Content, and Editorial teams to execute informative and engaging design end products.Assist in creating on-brand graphic presentations that communicate mood, emphasis, insight, viewpoint, and similar visual impressions, and interpretive themes that convey ideas and information clearly.Evolve, support, and maintain network design and branding across all creative, editorial, and digital end products.Conceive, design, layout, and coordinate editorial illustrations and creative artwork for program collateral such as magazines, brochures, displays, and posters, translating facts and features of subject material into graphic terms that best convey the intended meaning.Advocate for strong design across media and “customer first” approaches to experience design and delivery.Keep current on ever-evolving “best practices” in design approaches, techniques, and toolsets.Assist with the intake of incoming design requests that arrive through multiple communication channels.

EXPERIENCE:

2 to 4 years of related experience.Bachelor’s degree in or comparable work in a membership association, B2B, B2C, or advertising environment.Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite software.A demonstrated problem-solver and strong graphic layout designer.Experience with contemporary data visualization tools (D3, PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik, Spotfire, R [ggplot], Python [madplotlib], or similar) a plus.Basic knowledge of HTML 5, CSS, and social media is a plus.Working knowledge of ticketing systems and project management systems (Robohead, Jira, Monday, Zendesk, etc.)Experience with experiential/environmental design and/or multimedia a plus.
