Under the direction of the Chief of Technology Officer, the Television Production Manager schedules and facilitates training of studio and field production staff. Manages project logistics for productions, schedules client services, monitors revenue and expenses in accordance with annual goals and expectations, and provides transparency of project information to staff.Work requires the use of independent judgment using analytical, interpretive, and evaluative skills in working toward defined, specific objectives using a wide range of procedures. Must be highly organized with the ability to track several projects simultaneously.

Assigns and schedules production staff and student workers to projects. Coordinates activities of production staff engaged in writing, directing, editing, and producing local production programming and special client services projects such as satellite uplinks originating in the station’s studio.Technical and Maintenance Support:

Provides technical support and guidance to production staff including advice on techniques and style. Trains production staff in safety matters and maintenance of equipment.Television Operations Management:

Coordinates and oversees the day-to-day operation of the production department including studio and field activities.Budget and Invoicing Management:

Assists in the development of program production budgets in conjunction with The Chief Content Officer. Maintains expense ledgers for all productions as well as crew hours worked on capitalized productions, tracks costs, and identifies opportunities for cost-saving measures without compromising quality. Works collaboratively with the Administrative Business Manager to invoice external clients for services.Contract Negotiation and Oversight:

Assists in negotiations of contracts with organizations, talent, and producers. Tracks contracts and service maintenance agreements.Cross Functional Relationships and Collaborative Teamwork:

Establishes, maintains, and enhances positive work relationships with internal teams, including producers, writers, editors, etc., along with external vendors and clients.Leadership and Supervision:

Develops and manages a high-performing team of highly skilled and motivated staff focused on delivering quality and value-added services, and allocates cross-functional responsibilities and work processes. Responsibilities include hiring, coaching/mentoring, performance management, and progressive discipline as needed.Continuous Learning & Professional Development:

Maintains current knowledge of best practices and standards in television production. Actively organizes and/or participates in applicable workgroups, trainings, workshops, seminars, committees, and professional associations or conferences to promote continuous learning.Minimum Qualifications:

Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Television Broadcasting and/or Engineering or related field and seven years of experience with a minimum of three years in a supervisory role at a major market television station.Preferred Education & Experience:

Master’s degree with an emphasis in Television Broadcasting and/or Engineering or related field and four years of experience with a minimum of two years in a supervisory role at a major market television station.Preferred Licensure/Certification:

FCC General Radiotelephone License or SBE Certification.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge and ability in the production and direction of television programs.Working knowledge of current production technology and methods, equipment, and materials related to program video, and other forms of digital production including multi-camera and single-camera field production and editing, including the use of digital and/or non-linear editing technologies.Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.Ability to work accurately, problem solve production-related issues, and plan for current and future production changes and objectives.Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse educational and socio-economic backgrounds.Ability to work independently on multiple projects, prioritize required tasks, meet deadlines, and coordinate activities to achieve project goals and objectives.Ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written means.Ability to use functions of current word processing, spreadsheet software (i.e., Google Suite, Microsoft Excel), data-management, project management, and production scheduling software.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, representatives from the media, outside governmental and community agencies, and the general public.Ability to research and analyze data, methods, issues, and/or strategies and strategic recommendations for the formulation of policies and procedures.Ability to understand, interpret, and explain policies, procedures, and written and oral instructions to administration, faculty, staff, students, and the general public.Core Competencies:Business insightDecision qualityResourcefulnessPlans and alignsDrives resultsManages conflictDevelops talentBuilds effective teamsDemonstrates self-awarenessInstills trustCustomer focusAction-orientedValues differencesSelf-developmentCompassionStart Date:

This position supports MPBS and is available to start on or after July 8, 2024.Hours:

This position works 40 hours per week during business hours (8am - 4:30pm) with the occasional necessity to work nights and evenings.Salary:

Salary is listed to the midpoint of the salary range and is based on the 2023/2024 rates and determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity.Interviews:
