About the job:

The Marketing and Communications Manager is a dynamic and strategic role responsible for driving and implementing innovative approaches to marketing and communication strategies and campaigns to maximize engagement and impact. This position focuses on enhancing the organization's visibility and brand awareness through integrated communication plans, cutting-edge digital strategies, and effective media relations. The Marketing and Communications Manager will research and implement new technologies and storytelling techniques, ensuring internal and external communications align with organizational goals. By monitoring and analyzing communication metrics, this role ensures continuous improvement and effectiveness of the organization's marketing and communication efforts.

Essentials:

Strategy Development and Implementation

Develop comprehensive marketing and communications strategies and plans that align with the organization's goals and objectives.

Plan and execute marketing campaigns across various channels, including digital, print, and social media.

Strategic Communications and Storytelling

Develop strategies to share impact with donors and the community through creative storytelling.

Cultivate relationships with direct service leaders to build trust and enhance pathways for efficient impact story collection.

Identify and develop stories and quotes to be used in communications across all channels including newsletter articles, videos, and visual graphics.

Track and communicate key organizational messages and community trends. Equip the team with consistent and updated language to use.

Brand Management

Enhance the organization's visibility and brand awareness through cohesive and strategic messaging across all channels.

Oversee the creation and distribution of marketing materials, such as brochures, press releases, flyers, and reports.

Collaborate with graphic designers, content creators, and other stakeholders to produce high-quality marketing, fundraising, and engagement collateral.

Media Relations

Manage media relations activities including drafting press releases, conducting media outreach, and coordinating interviews.

Build and maintain relationships with media contacts to ensure positive coverage of the organization’s initiatives and achievements.

Digital Communications

Create and manage digital communications strategies encompassing social media, email marketing, and website content.

Create digital content and strategy, including an annual social media, website, e-newsletters, and electronic communications plan. Segment across target audiences of the organization.

Implement digital strategies to boost exposure, website traffic, and increase support.

Innovation and Technology

Research and implement cutting-edge technologies, platforms, and storytelling techniques to improve communication strategies.

Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of marketing and communication innovation.

Internal Communications

Develop and coordinate internal communication efforts to ensure staff alignment with organizational goals and strategies.

Facilitate transparent and effective communication within the organization to foster a cohesive and informed team environment.

Create content for internal newsletters, intranet updates, and announcements.

Project Management

Oversee and participate in marketing and communication projects from concept to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.

Coordinate with external vendors and agencies as needed.

Manage the marketing and communications budget, track expenses, and report on ROI.

Metrics and Analysis

Monitor and analyze communication metrics to measure the effectiveness of strategies and campaigns.

Provide regular reports and actionable insights to refine and improve communication efforts.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field, preferably within the nonprofit sector.

Proven track record of developing and implementing successful marketing and communication strategies and campaigns.

Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, including social media management, email marketing software, and website content management systems.

Strong understanding of media relations and experience managing media interactions and coverage.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Ability to think creatively and strategically to develop innovative communication approaches that capture attention and drive engagement.

Superior written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences.

Strong storytelling skills to convey the organization’s mission and impact effectively.

Proficient in analyzing communication metrics and using data to inform and adjust strategies.

Ability to interpret data and generate insights to improve marketing and communication effectiveness.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Detail-oriented with excellent time management abilities.

Ability to build and maintain relationships with media, stakeholders, and internal teams.

Collaborative team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.

Familiarity with emerging technologies and platforms that can enhance communication efforts.

Adaptable to new tools and technologies with a willingness to continuously learn and improve.
