The Design Technology practice in Digital Product Design is an inter-disciplinary practice where technology and product focused individuals are working together to enabling the creation of physical, software, data and AI prototypes towards the strategic priorities of Ford.

We are seeking an innovative and experienced developer to join our Design Technology practice in Palo Alto. As a technologist specializing in AI Prototyping, you will be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge ML and AI-driven in-vehicle experience prototypes.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between advanced AI technologies and human-centered design, creating prototypes that push the boundaries of what's possible in our vehicles. You'll work in an interdisciplinary team, collaborating with designers, engineers, and product specialists to bring ideas to life through rapid prototyping and iterative development.

What you'll do…

The ideal candidate will work under experienced Next Gen and Physical Digital Interface team leadership and support the Design Technology center of excellence within Digital Product Design by:

· Develop and implement AI and ML-driven prototypes for in-vehicle experiences

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ideate, design, and iterate on AI solutions

· Create proof-of-concept applications that demonstrate the potential of AI in automotive contexts

· Evaluate and integrate emerging AI technologies into our prototyping process

· Contribute to the development of AI strategies and roadmaps for future vehicle features

· Present complex AI concepts and prototypes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

You'll have...

· Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or related field

· 1+ years of experience in a data or software-oriented role

· Proficiency in Python and relevant AI/ML libraries (e.g., PyTorch, Transformers, TensorFlow, OpenCV, etc.)

· Foundational understanding of ML/AI principles and applications

· Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development practices

· Experience with cloud-based AI services (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, etc.)

Even better, you may have...

· Master's Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or related field

· Strong software development skills, including experience building user interfaces and working with diverse hardware

· Prior experience in the automotive, mobility, or transportation industry

· Experience as an engineer, scientist, or prototyper in a creative and/or interdisciplinary culture

· Knowledge of deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision techniques

· Experience developing prototypes and applications that leverage ML or AI techniques

· Familiarity with UI/UX design principles and prototyping tools
