Description and Requirements

We are looking for a talentedUX Writer/Content Strategistto partner with designers, illustrators, product managers, and others to turn complex information into simple, compelling stories. As a member of the User Experience Design (UXD) team at Motorola Mobility, you’ll help create digital experiences for the Motorola smartphone product line. From building AI experiences to leading the UX & UI design for the Motorola Razr, our team is an essential part of what makes Motorola phones great.

This role is for our Chicago, IL studio. You’ll join a global design organization, with offices in Chicago, Brazil, and China.

What you’ll be doing:

Work with designers to ensure app interfaces communicate clearly

Collaborate with work partners to develop storytelling strategy for experiences as well as in-app written content and copy

Solid understanding of user experience design principles and interaction patterns

Write a broad range of concise, grammatically sound copy in US English — setup, menus, notifications, tutorials, error messages, instructional text, conversational UI, and more

Engage in development processes to create, proofread, and refine final materials

Ensure consistency across all experiences by following, maintaining, and evolving Motorola content standards, including tone and voice.

Collaborate with our Localization team and translators to ensure products are accessible for multiple geographies.

Basic Qualifications:

Superior US English proficiency (written and spoken) required

4+ years experience as a UX writer, content strategist, content designer, or similar role working with online or mobile app content

Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Communications, Journalism, or similar

Exceptional communication skills (oral, writing, listening, presenting)

A strong portfolio showing examples of superb writing with stories of how your approach led to impactful results

Ability to explain complex ideas in simple ways

Ability to work independently as well as within a team

Ability to take feedback from peers, and to give feedback to peers

Critical thinking & ability to empathize with users and alternate perspectives

Ability to drive common understanding within the team, as well as with cross­-functional work partners and senior management

Prefered Qulifications:

Previous experience writing for mobile phone software or apps

Previous experience in technical writing

Familiarity with Associated Press (AP) Style

Experience using Figma
