Job Description
Position Overview:
The Fire Alarm or Sprinkler Designer will be responsible for designing fire alarm and/or sprinkler systems for commercial buildings. This role requires a highly detail-oriented individual with strong technical skills and a thorough understanding of fire protection systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with design software and a solid knowledge of industry codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities: Develop detailed fire alarm and sprinkler system designs for commercial projects. Create accurate and code-compliant design drawings and specifications. Perform hydraulic calculations for sprinkler systems. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and constraints. Conduct site visits to gather necessary information for design development. Review and interpret architectural, structural, and mechanical plans. Ensure designs meet all applicable codes, standards, and regulations. Prepare material and equipment specifications and cost estimates. Coordinate with installation teams to ensure accurate implementation of designs. Provide technical support during the installation and commissioning phases. Maintain thorough documentation of designs and revisions. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in fire protection engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in fire alarm and sprinkler system design. Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic calculation programs. Strong knowledge of NFPA codes and standards, as well as local building codes. Excellent technical and analytical skills. Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems and/or Water-Based Systems Layout is a plus. Benefits:
