Responsibilities

Work with technical integration staff to develop human centered design (HCD) strategic plans, standards, best practices, and artifacts that may be institutionalized across all development efforts.

Provide cross-cutting tools and oversight to ensure that development complies with industry standards and best practices and regulatory requirements (including meeting 508 accessibility requirements), reduces rework and cost when possible, and trends toward technology/product agnostic development.

Design, coordinate, and execute large scale and continuous qualitative and qualitative UX research activities, focusing on both conceptual designs and developed software.

Work with release management to coordinate user acceptance testing at critical release milestones.

Coordinate user feedback metrics and improvements to ensure that the tool both satisfies the technical requirements and enhances the user experience to provide a win-win result for user communities.

Collaborate with other UX and HCD Specialists as well as Product Designers, Product Owners, and Technical Leads to ensure that all product teams design and develop their interfaces and experiences according to technical integrator standards.

Work with Integrator HCD SMEs on strategic and tactical plans for the development methodology being employed, incorporating the business goals and the technical constraints of the project.

Ensure solution feasibility is tracking toward the desired project goals.

QualificationsMinimum:

5+ years of experience in Human Factors Engineering, Human Systems Engineering, or Human Centered Design.

Well-versed in fundamental visual and interactive software, web application, and mobile design disciplines.

Experience in qualitative and qualitative, participatory research, persona development, user journey mapping, and/or visualizing other user-experience flows.

Excellent communication skills (verbal, presentation, written).

System user interface design experience, with demonstrated problem-solving skills.

Professional industry standard certification in human centered design.

Preferred:

Master’s or Doctoral Degree in engineering, information technology, human factors, cognitive psychology, human-computer interaction, behavioral or related science or any other advanced degree related to system or industrial engineering.

Experience with Army enterprise software and systems.

Experience with Maze, Dovetail, and other UX research tools.

Experience working in an agile software development framework.

Experience working with Acquisition or procurement professionals
