POSITION SUMMARY:Method Studios currently has openings for a project hire FX Artist

towork on projects within our VFX department. This position will be located in

Santa Monica, CA.The perfect candidate needs to be a dependable, team player with a great attitude, and be flexible with our fast turnarounds. They will work closely with the VFX Supervisor and VFX Producer in achieving the highest creative and technical standards of work.MAIN DUTIES:Manage software and tools developmentCritique artists' workUse tools and software developed in-house, proprietary tools, or off-the-shelf software, render photo-realistic FX for film;Be adept at balancing the creation of final renders for shots with building/maintaining systems for creating shotsWork within the Company 3/Method Inc pipeline and publish tools and scripts as prescribedManage disc space to fit within quotaCreate systems that minimize render timesFollow the creative direction of the production communicated by your supervisorsBe adept at balancing creative requests with the resources availableHave the ability to work in a team environment under tight deadlines.WHAT YOU BRING:Previous experience as a TD is a bonusExpert knowledge of Houdini;Experience working in complex pipelines;Good artistic skillsDemonstrable ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas;Ability to take directions and adapt to changesExcellence at improvising and problem-solvingBONUS IF YOU HAD:Houdini Lighting/Look Dev experience;Tool building and scripting knowledge;Knowledge of Nuke and Katana;Some scripting skills: Python, hscript, vex, bash;Linux experience;Computer science degree or some other advanced training.
