Position Summary:The polysomnographic technologist performs sleep-testing procedures under the direct supervision and order of an attending pulmonologist. This individual works independently to safely operate sophisticated medical equipment to record sleep/wake physiology. The technologist must recognize sleep pathology when it occurs in the laboratory and respond with the appropriate interventions to ensure patient safety. The polysomnographic technologist administers oxygen and employs ventilatory-assist devices in accordance with established protocols. This individual is also certified in basic life support. The individual functions independently to safely operate and evaluate polysomnograms with infant and pediatric patients with acute and/or chronic disorders.

Position requirements:Education:

Associate's Degree in one of the applied sciences requiredExperience:

Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in a pediatric Sleep Disorder Center required or two (2) to three (3) years of experience in a similar environment.License/Certification:

Polysomnographic Technology (CPSGT), Licensed/Registered Respioratory Care Practitioner (RRT), Basic Life Support CertificationKnowledge, skills & abilities:

Effective written and verbal skills, work well independently, knowledge of /ability to use related computer systems, ability to maintain emotional stability, strong organizational and teamwork skills.
