OverviewThe Speechwriter, Executive Communications, will work closely with the Vice President for Global Engagement and Communications Office (GECO) to develop and execute a series of high-level speeches for the President and CEO. This includes meeting with Jhpiego experts to build content, develop point of view and calls to action for high-level panels, conferences, and events; preparing talking points and/or speeches for such events as determined by the VP/GECO and the CEO. The work will include two rounds of revision and select preparation meetings for video recordings and/or virtual and in person speeches.

ResponsibilitiesExecutive Communications

Adapts/modifies approaches, communication methods, content, and messaging to effectively reach target audience(s) with tailored messaging on behalf of the CEO

Develops and writes speeches, and other high-level communications, for special conferences and events

Manages and coordinates the development and delivery of such communications

Supports the VP/GECO with delivery of select executive communications

Research & Analysis

Conducts in-depth research and evaluation of target audience(s) and determines requirements and needs to convey strong, compelling messaging on behalf of Jhpiego CEO in high-level speeches

Ensures accuracy and quality of background materials for the CEO

Stakeholder Engagement

Supports the VP/GECO with strategy in promoting the Jhpiego brand to high-level officials, stakeholders, policymakers, lawmakers, and other groups that influence Jhpiego business and U.S. Government policy

Composes high-visibility strategic communications and provides support for events, both internally and externally

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years related professional experience

Experience with capturing the voice and tone of a speaker to prepare and write a speech and/or talking points, advising on content, and messaging aligned with the executive communications strategy of a CEO or their designee

Experience supporting a senior executive or senior leadership member or government official and engaging with experts across a large organization or agency

Proficiency in developing high-level communications for specific events, and executing finished products

Knowledge of international public health or related fields preferred

Ability to gather complex information and synthesize it into deliverables on short deadlines

Experience with project management, prioritization, and multitasking

Demonstrated interpersonal and communications skills

Ability to interact with Jhpiego leadership, government officials, and foreign dignitaries

Highly organized and detail-oriented

Proficiency in presentation software, social media, databases, and graphic application

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree with 7–10 years of relevant experience

The salary range for this casual role is expected to be hourly:

$32.94 - $43.92
