Job Summary:

The Industrial Designer is responsible for designing products for the self-storage and steel building industry. This role is pivotal in transforming ideas into practical, market-ready products through detailed 2D and 3D drawings and 3D prints. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with both internal and external customers, ensuring that product designs are not only innovative but also manufacturable and compliant with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development of new products from concept to final design.

Create concept sketches, 2D drawings, and 3D models.

Analyze and solve-design related problems by collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.

Design and test new or improved products to ensure they meet market demands and quality standards.

Determine the best materials for manufacturing that meet industry codes and efficiency requirements.

Work with internal teams (Sales, Manufacturing, Field Installers) and external partners (Vendors, End Users) to design, troubleshoot, and resolve product issues.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or related field.

Previous hands-on experience in creating drawings/models from physical parts and working as an Industrial Designer.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in both in person and virtual environments.

In-depth knowledge of SolidWorks, CAD, and AutoCAD.

CAM software knowledge is a plus.

Experience with 3D printing technologies and processes.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong project management skills.

Ability to think creatively to produce cost-effective designs and materials for manufacturing.

Understanding of materials and their relationship to manufacturing processes, with a focus on cost-saving measures and minimal waste.

Ability to identify and enforce quality control measures to ensure product excellence.
