ABOUT THE POSITIONVHB is looking for a Water Resources Designer to join our Raleigh, NC office. VHB's passionate professionals include engineers, scientists, planners, and designers.The position offers the opportunity to be a part of our successful Water Resources practice that provides municipal, state and federal governmental agencies and private sector clients a full array of integrated professional water resources services including:Watershed analysis

Stormwater management and DesignErosion and Sediment ControlFloodplain management, FEMA Compliance in Riverine and Coastal SystemsResponsibilitiesDesign and develop computations for hydrology and hydraulics, stormwater systems, riverine systems and BMPs.Field surveys and reconnaissance statewide (NC) to document existing conditions as it relates to stormwater and riverine systems and to aid in design.Hydrologic and Hydraulic modeling of transportation crossings of small and large riverine systems while complying with federal and state regulationsDesign projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools. Both transportation and land development projects.Develop construction cost estimatesAssist with the preparation of design engineering plans and specifications for approval by municipalities, state government and regulatory agencies.Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established qualityUtilize applications (Open Roads Designer, HecRas, HecHMS, TR-55 etc.) as required by our water resources assignments.Skills and AbilitiesExcellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsUnderstanding of basic stormwater and drainage conceptsBentley and/or AutoCAD drafting experiencePerform engineering field surveys to collect stormwater flow pattern data necessary for modeling, analysis and evaluation of existing conditions.Knowledge with preparation and review of Engineering Plans and Specifications to ensure that all aspects of project implementation are clearly conveyedTeam oriented with strong capability to work independentlyHighly organizedCapable of coordinating and performing multiple tasksQualifications1 - 3 years of experience in an engineering/environmental consulting environmentBachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering or related engineering degreeGIS and CAD application experience are desiredEI Certification preferred or able to obtainAt VHB, we're invested in what we do, compelled by intellectual curiosity, and driven to work collectively to best serve our clients and help shape the future of our communities in a meaningful way.
