As a UX Designer on the employee facing design systems team, you are responsible for leading design initiatives, including Figma component, pattern, and style libraries. You will work with designers and engineers across multiple organizations to create implementation strategies and timelines for the introduction of new components and standards. You will bring a scalable design approach to your work, and consider how to best deliver components, patterns, and templates that scale across products and platforms. Finally, you’ll be a focused on the design details, while also understanding the technical requirements to bridge the gap between product and engineering.

To succeed in this role, the candidate must be an innovative self-starter in driving operational excellence, enabling others, and working closely with engineering. The candidate must have proven the ability to succeed in a highly ambiguous, fast-paced environment. Key job responsibilities

Assume ownership for components, patterns, and templates for product experiences and features across desktop, native mobile and more.

Work closely with designers and engineers to design and implement high-quality, scalable additions to the design system.

Collaborate with designers to identify opportunities for unifying designs across products.

Create and maintain documentation describing the standards and best practices of our component library as a reference for designers, developers, and product.

Model behavior that exemplifies Amazon Leadership Principles in their team. Raises the design bar for the organization.

Implement and maintain processes for scaling, updating, and managing various parts of a design system.

Provide coaching and feedback, with an emphasis on growing junior Independent Contributors and leadership capability.

Dive deep with product managers, designers, and engineers from various domains, learning how they are serving customers.

A day in the life

A Design Systems UX Designer works with design and engineering closely on day-to-day basis. While this designer independently owns the strategy and creation of new components, patterns, and layouts, they also collaborate with other UX designers across organizations on connecting individual features to a unified, holistic experience. UX Researchers and UX Copy Writers support design in creating reusable experiences. The designer shares design work regularly with the immediate and customer teams, stakeholder review and leadership, and acts as a key member that brings the larger design community together.

8+ years of design experience

Have an available online portfolio

Expertise in Figma

Preferred Qualifications

Experience applying scrum to visual or UX design processes

Experience with hands-on visual design

Experience in delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity

Experience defining and maintaining design patterns and UX standards

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
