Senior Director, Content & Solutions Marketing

Reports to: Vice President Corporate Marketing

Role Overview:

As the Senior Director, Content and Solutions Marketing, you will be responsible for leading the team that crafts Splunk’s corporate and executive messaging and brings it to life through creative content and storytelling. You will lead a team of messaging strategists, solutions marketers, and content marketers to build compelling content that supports the full customer journey from awareness, through engagement to demand and loyalty. Reporting to the VP, Corporate Marketing, you will collaborate closely with our communications, global events, product marketing, integrated marketing, executive customer experience, and field marketing teams.

Responsibilities:

Lead a team of solutions and content marketers to build and evangelize the Splunk story for all internal and external audiences

Lead the messaging strategy and storytelling for keynotes at major company moments

Build scalable materials and training that can be adopted across the company to ensure that customer-facing employees can consistently deliver Splunk’s messaging and differentiation.

Define the content strategy that differentiates Splunk, builds pipeline, and directly answers buyer questions

Support the team to write, edit, produce, publish, and promote industry-leading content including white papers, eBooks, customer stories, campaign emails, SEO content, and blogs

Continue to evolve content strategy and next-generation assets that influence senior decision makers - especially CXOs

Drive success of Perspectives by Splunk, our brand journalism hub, building a community of customer executives

Establish goals and metrics to measure the quality of content, audience growth, engagement, and content reach and extensively analyze problems to seek understanding of the underlying issues in alignment with overarching business strategy

Stay up to date on the emerging trends and needs within the Security and Observability market and CISO/CxO personas and adjust content strategies accordingly

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, business, marketing, or communications or equivalent related work experience

12+ years in communications, corporate marketing, publishing, content marketing or product marketing with proven experience creating corporate messaging and positioning, as well as content journey mapping and creative storytelling

A compelling storyteller who has the natural ability to take complex technical concepts and communicate them to the world

Experience in the cybersecurity industry is preferred

Proven results and experience scaling, developing, and managing teams of people and helping to build culture in a fast-paced environment

Out of the box thinker who can inspire a team of creative storytellers

Ability to collaborate and influence with internal and external stakeholders while building powerful stories of the highest quality in multiple formats (written, video, blogs)

Experience conducting research and interpreting data, and transforming those findings into intriguing, insightful content

Deep understanding of SEO, the marketing funnel, and the customer journey process that support demand generation and install base marketing

Deep analytical expertise and the ability to use performance metrics to optimize content strategy and make data-driven decisions

Experience working in a fast-moving environment similar to a high-technology startup.

Knowledge of business-to-business (B2B) growth models and best practices for funnel optimization.
