Marketing and Engagement Director

to manage and advance the institute’s marketing, internal/external engagement, community outreach, and media strategies for the institute and its respective initiatives and programs. This leadership role will:Develop, manage, and execute strategic and cohesive marketing plans and engagement strategies to meet the institute’s mission and objectives.Collaborate with leadership on evolving community outreach and brand strategy across the institute’s many research and education units under its direction.Advance strategies to build an alumni outreach program and community working with leadership and organizations across the university.Cultivate engagement opportunities and partnerships with the broader Stanford community and externally.Build partnerships among other institutes, departments, and schools.Evaluate effectiveness for marketing campaigns, outreach practices, and engagement strategies.Structure and oversee consistent event management processes and activities across the institute and its research initiatives and education programs.Partner with the institute’s communication director to lead and support production of integrated marketing materials such as annual reports and marketing collateral across the institute.Working closely with the communication director, create and manage the execution of an integrated communication approach which leverages marketing and branding strategy, incorporating appropriate channels (i.e., web, print, email, online).Improve outreach approaches via media and other services.Expand social media presence including collaboration for podcast productions.Gauge trends to improve marketing tactics.Partner with the Doerr School of Sustainability on aligning strategies and building communities.Lead outreach collaboration processes and management practice.Further responsibilities will include:Define and conduct market research, including competitive benchmarking, identification of new opportunities, and campaign/program/service/event analysis.Use research results to make tactical decisions regarding strategic marketing direction, product segmentation, and customer targeting.Communicate marketing plans across the institute, its ecosystem, and Doerr School to educate and influence stakeholders.Oversee or guide event management to support marketing objectives.Manage key engagement vendors and consultant relationships.Scope and manage project/program budget(s).May oversee interns and other staff; provide staff training.To be successful in this position, you will needBachelor's degree and eight years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and relevant experience.Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior leaders.Extensive knowledge of strategic analysis, customer segmentation strategies, and business and marketing planning.Demonstrated experience in integrated marketing strategy and execution across channels including digital, and print.Demonstrated application of market research and data analysis.Excellent project manager with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.Demonstrated experience presenting to senior management.The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:Familiarity with the fields of energy and the environment.High level of diplomacy and relationship management.Familiarity with Stanford University policies, procedures, and systems.The expected pay range for this position is $122,000 to $169,000 per annum.At Stanford University, base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive rewards package.
