For us, setting a high-quality bar, creating something extraordinary, and treating each other with trust and respect go hand-in-hand.THE ROLE Firewalk Studios is looking for a Senior level First Person Gameplay Animator who desires the creative freedoms of working on a new and original IP at a developer-friendly studio, while helping to tackle the challenges that come with it. This role requires someone who is passionate about bringing characters to life in first person with animations bursting with personality that blend organic movement and responsiveness.Using skills of both your craft and collaboration you will join a character-focused Multi-Player FPS project, working closely with our Gameplay Animation Director and a multidisciplinary group of developers to help deliver best in class gameplay animation while helping to innovate what’s possible in this space.WHO YOU ARE You desire working in a positive and inclusive work environment.You strive for excellence and growth in your craft.You are passionate about crafting organic and responsive character animation brimming with personality.You are a self-sufficient, motivated, and self-aware animator who is excited to breathe life into a diverse cast of world-class characters.You have expertise and deep understanding of body mechanics, action gameplay animation, and systems.You enjoy mentoring animators with less experience.You consider yourself a game-developer and understand how your work elevates the experience. The prospect of working in a highly collaborative, highly iterative, multidisciplinary environment excites you.You want your animations to feel amazing to play, not just amazing to look at.Your portfolio reflects your experience, your love for animating characters, and your technical mastery of your tools.You have a strong understanding of motion and visual design principles.WHAT YOU WILL DO Collaborate with Designers, Concept Artists, Modelers, Animators, and Tech Artists to create memorable living and breathing characters that belong together in a shared universe of physicality and expression.Participate in our teamwide playtests to evaluate how your assets are playing and to give and receive notes on the experience.Work with Production to help maintain your schedule and ensure tasks are delivered on time and at quality.Receive feedback from the Gameplay Animation Lead and the Gameplay Animation Director to align your work with the game's vision and quality bar.Create high-quality character animations from block-out to polished in-engine animations.Provide feedback on tools, tech and workflow.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Relevant professional experience as a Gameplay Animator and have shipped at least 3 titles, 1 of which was a first-person shooter game.Solid hand-key animation skills.Strong command of weight, body mechanics, energy transfers and ballistic power.Able to communicate innovative ideas and systems to both creative and technically minded people.Proficient in Maya.NICE TO HAVE Experience shipping with Unreal Engine.Technical Skills: Scripting.Traditional Art Skills: Drawing, Painting, Sculpting, etc.
