As a member of the Communications and Marketing team, work with AMS departments to develop, execute, and manage strategic marketing plans that inform, educate, or persuade audiences about AMS activities and offerings, including content production and development, and branding across all platforms. Oversee the creation, coordination, and scheduling of posts on social platforms to build relationships with potential and existing customers. Monitor and maintain social platforms. Guide colleagues on best practices in marketing and communications. Serve as backup for communications and marketing team members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

In a coordinated way, develop and execute integrated marketing communications campaigns to promote AMS activities and offeringsCollaborate to produce creative content for marketing and promotion campaignsGuide colleagues on best practices in marketing and communicationsCoordinate, post, and schedule content on social platformsWrite, edit, and publish posts to AMS platformsActively search for interesting user-generated content to share effectivelyEvaluate and measure content successMonitor social media trends and provide advice on emerging platformsServe as backup for communications and marketing team membersSupport management of AMS outreach activitiesHelp with ad hoc special projects, as neededINTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:

A high degree of professionalism is required in dealing with both internal and external relationships.

Internal relationships include collaborating with staff throughout the Society and with officers and volunteers; attending certain Society events, possibly including some committee meetings, as assigned.External relationships may include various AMS constituents: members, partners, customers, and vendors; counterparts at sister societies and other organizations; members of the mathematical, academic, and broader scientific community.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This individual may oversee the work of interns.QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree, with 3+ years of experience as a digital content specialist or marketing strategistAt least 2 years’ experience in a creative environmentBackground in developing content for social mediaExperience collaborating with clients to develop communications projects from concept to completionExperience helping internal colleagues make strategic content decisionsExperience applying best practices and brand standards to projects, processes, and productsExperience with SEO and web traffic metricsAbility to work both independently and in a collaborative environmentAdept at consensus-buildingExperience capturing images and video for use in digital storytellingAble to communicate effectively with non-technical staffATTRIBUTES AND COMPETENCIES:
