ABOUT THE ROLE
Fast Company seeks a dynamic and culturally savvy freelance writer to cover trending news on a daily basis. You'll be at the forefront of creating engaging content that captures the pulse of trending news related to business, tech, finance, workplace culture, and more. You will collaborate with our digital team to produce timely, witty, and intelligent articles about a variety of topics, business leaders, and companies that drive the news we care about each day.
Pay rate: $350 per day.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Proven experience as a writer and reporter in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on trending news
- Exceptional writing skills with the ability to adapt tone to Fast Company's style
- Deep understanding of reporting and the news, with the ability to pitch trending stories within Fast Company’s areas of authority, and to quickly develop and expand on assignments
- Strong research skills and ability to quickly grasp and explain complex online phenomena
- Experience with SEO best practices and social media optimization
- Ability to write quickly and concisely
- Active presence on major social media platforms and familiarity with emerging platforms
- Strong editorial judgment and commitment to factual accuracy
