Job Description

Proto's mission is to accelerate the transition to a more open, equitable global economy. We believe open protocols like Bitcoin are integral to achieving that vision. The team's first two initiatives-mining tools and a self-custody wallet, Bitkey-aim to decentralize access for builders, increase network resiliency, and make everyday use of bitcoin safe and easy. Within Proto, our Bitcoin Products team delivers the product and go-to-market strategy, software, firmware, and custom silicon needed to make Bitkey and our ambitious mining initiatives a reality. Come build the future of money with us!

We're looking for a design technologist to help bring our products to life through creative, interactive experiences. You will bring an appropriate mix of front-end development,prototyping tools, and have experience with animation and 3D rendering for the web while writing flexible code that can be iterated upon that leverages up-to-date industry best practices. Thriving on exploration and experimentation, you are at the heart of co-creating ideas and bringing them to life with your design and marketing peers. Your skills complement your application of technology, including a precise eye for intelligent UX, great design, and a strategic foundation.

You will report to the Proto engineering lead and be part of our broader engineering team to gain support in writing code and determine how your work fits within our technology stack and engineering team processes. You will also be directly embedded within our design team and have a dotted line relationship with our Head of Design as you will be a key driver of creative decision making with your design peers.

You Will:Work with design and marketing peers to brainstorm creative solutions to achieve team goals and strategy.Participate in concept development to create best in class web experiences that make customers say "wow."Contribute to systems and standards for our marketing platforms across all product lines within Proto (ie: our web CMS, email marketing platforms etc..).Work collaboratively across multiple teams to ship remarkable solutions on a fast paced team that operates like a startup within a larger company.Develop ideation prototypes to create custom content experiences (e.g., infographics, interactive tools, and more) and quickly demonstrate what an idea looks and feels like in real lifeWork creatively through and around perceived limitations and challenges imposed by the delivery platform to create delightful experiences for customersEvaluate and document any creative or engineering standards or patterns that could arise from your workQualifications

You Have:

BS in Computer Science or a related technical field, and/or 5+ years of relevant work experienceFront-end development experience e.g. HTML, CSS, and JavaScriptExperience with JavaScript frameworks/libraries e.g. React.js, Three.js, Next.jsBackend development experience in a modern development language such as Ruby, Java, or similarA portfolio of work that displays responsive web examples, iconography, typography, color, imagery, and motionAn understanding of web standards, browser performance, SEO optimization, and basic UX/UI principlesA history of collaboration with non-technical team membersSkills to work on complex problems with any audience in verbal, visual, or written formatsExperience with Adobe Creative Suite and FigmaAdditional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $163,600 - USD $245,400Zone B: USD $155,400 - USD $233,200Zone C: USD $147,300 - USD $220,900Zone D: USD $139,000 - USD $208,600
