This position supports multiple ongoing research programs within the newly formed Center for Health by Design (CHxD), an interdisciplinary research center, supported by the School of Public Health at Indiana University-Bloomington. The CHxD exists to accelerate the science and impact of cutting-edge, human-centered health behavior interventions in high-priority areas (e.g., cardiovascular disease, cancer, dementia, metabolic disease). CHxD achieves this by cultivating a transformative research community that empowers interdisciplinary teams who dare to design human-centered interventions advancing health and wellness for all. Center members are national thought leaders in the human-centered health intervention research arena who advance the science of human-centered design and rigorous scientific testing of health interventions. Founding co-directors Drs. Nicole Werner and Richard Holden are joined by 7 faculty Executive Council members and Center Scholars to collectively perform strategic and operational governance of the Center.

Job Summary

  • Searches for, retrieves and updates journal article citations.
  • Assists in the implementation of clinical research studies.
  • Helps identify and recruit potential research study participants.
  • Assists with identifying and recruiting potential research study subjects; determines eligibility.
  • Maintains databases of participant information and scheduling details.
  • Records study data, samples, and/or results in various databases.
  • Performs quantitative and qualitative data analysis and management of study data.
  • Provides reporting on study data as requested.
  • Assists with developing various communications and strategies for advertising and recruitment, as well as in developing information materials for study participants.
  • Formats and proofreads research documentation such as CVs, biosketches, papers, reports, etc.

EDUCATION

Required
  • Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University.
SKILLS

Required

  • Possesses capacity to work with multiple groups (faculty, staff, students, and other professionals) in a fast-paced, highly energetic, research environment.

  • Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Strong organizational, communication, writing, and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of typical office software.
Preferred
  • Experience with behavioral and survey research software (e.g., Qualtrics, REDCap).
  • Knowledge of reference management software (e.g., EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero).

Working Conditions / Demands

The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Additional Information

Must be able to work during the summer.
