Supervising Producer
The AJC's mission is to be the most essential and engaging source of news and information for the people of Atlanta, of Georgia and the South. THE JOB:
The Supervising Producer will manage a team of producers and editors dedicated to producing short and long-form digital videos. The ideal candidate is a voracious consumer of video content in its many forms. Strong editorial judgment and a knowledge of the digital landscape is required. Superior writing, editing, and pre- and post- production skills are essential.
This candidate is responsible for executing our video strategy across platforms, leading the creative production of the video team, upholding the tone and voice of the AJC, and meeting editorial standards. This role requires an understanding of audience behavior across digital platforms and an ability to create engaging, innovative, and relevant content.
The Supervising Producer will report to the Executive Producer, and must be self-motivated, well-organized and eager to find creative solutions to challenging problems.

Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $97,100.00 - $161,800.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee the development and production of short and long-form videos, series, franchises and documentaries, prioritizing unique formats, complex stories and topics that the AJC can do best.
- Build and oversee workflows and production schedules for a team of producers, editors, and graphic designers.
- Work with the Executive Producer of Video to develop concepts and pitches for short and long-form storytelling.
- Integrate with the newsroom to identify opportunities for video that meet a myriad of content goals across owned and operated platforms as well as off-platform where we seek to grow a larger regional and national audience.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced news environment while meeting aggressive deadlines.
- Empower a team to constantly evolve, elevate and produce premium content.
- Lead pre-production workflows: writing scripts and treatments, approving pitches and on-camera bookings, overseeing call sheets and gear check-outs.
- Manage projects from pitch to publish, review video edits and provide thoughtful notes.
- Work to define the distinct look and feel of AJC video in every template and format we create.
- Evolve ideas to remain in lockstep with AJC's larger engagement and subscriber goals and video strategy.
- Pitch and execute ideas for sponsored series and revenue-driving initiatives.
- Analyze and interpret audience behavior and video metrics to help make decisions and recommendations, evolve content, and improve user engagement.
Qualifications:
- College degree or equivalent
- With a BA/BS, must have 8+ years of news and/or documentary production experience. Candidates with a Master's degree would need at least 6 years of experience or with a Ph.D, must have at least 3 years of experience, while a candidate without a degree must have a minimum of 12 years of experience
- Proven experience leading an editorial team on digital platforms; works well under pressure
- Extensive experience working in a fast-paced, news environment
- Outstanding editorial judgment, critical and strategic thinking, and organization skills
- Superior writing, editing, and post-production skills
- Strong communication skills, excellent teamwork and team-building skills
- Adobe suite, especially Premiere, and cine camera skills, a must
- Must be willing to work flexible hours and/or holidays and weekends as dictated by the business
