Role Summary

The Senior Technical Marketing Manager (TMM) - Vertical Markets brings technical experience, industry awareness, and product knowledge to the Portfolio Marketing team. As a vertical-focused TMM, you will work with the vertical marketing team to understand technical asset needs and build or create new (or adapt existing) technical sales enablement assets and compelling product demonstrations to illustrate how we address specific customer challenges, often working in conjunction with a Technical Marketing Engineer (TME). TMMs develop narrative-based collateral that illustrates vertical-specific problems our customers face in the field and prove how Splunk offerings resolve those issues. This role will collaborate with Vertical Product Marketing and Sales Engineering to ensure that GTM content is technically accurate and delivers contextually relevant content that resonates with targeted technical personas. Collaborating with Splunk Technical Sales Enablement as subject matter authority, TMMs help guide the development of Tech Sales Training and enablement, including New Hire Training.

What you'll get to do

Build (or adapt) high quality external facing technical content such as technical solution briefs, whitepapers, how-to videos, presentations, blogs, user guides, and reference architectures concerning industry specific use cases and Splunk offerings.

Adapt and modify self-guided demos, product tours, and other forms of technical content to show Splunk's understanding of challenges for individual industry verticals to drive awareness, consideration and demand.

Demonstrate how Splunk products address industry-specific technical problems faced by our practitioner customers, including mapping of technical features/capabilities to real-world problems and demonstrating competitive differentiation.

Understand the challenges faced in distinct vertical markets, translate Splunk offerings into use case-based solutions, present solutions, answer questions and collect feedback.

Evangelize “how we do it” and “how we do it better” to explain our prescriptive GTM motion

Deliver targeted enablement sessions for Marketing, Sales/SEs, and customers with original, industry specific assets that drive home the value of Splunk products and resonate with our target personas

Must-have Qualifications

7+ years demonstrated experience with security, threat prevention, and/or analytics software in an enterprise context

5-7 years proven experience in technical marketing or sales engineering roles.

Excellent written and presentation skills. A TMM needs to be gifted in the ability to communicate effectively through a variety of media.

Consistent record of marketing to a highly technical personas within large organizations. You relate to our to technical buyers and customers within enterprises and are comfortable creating engaging content that appeals strongly to their needs.

Nice-to-have Qualifications

Expertise and hands-on experience within Security (SIEM, SOAR, Threat Detection and Response) or Observability (Application Performance Monitoring, Infrastructure Monitoring, AIOps, Incident Management) or other DevOps tooling. Industry security certification: CISSP, CISA, CISM, etc.

A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent professional experience.

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $159,200.00 - 218,900.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $143,280.00 - 197,010.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $127,360.00 - 175,120.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
