We are seeking qualified applicants to teach the following course in fall/spring 2024-25PDV/TAC 206 Business for the Media ComposerCourse DescriptionThis course helps musicians/composers prepare for and envision employment and growth in the media music industry. Students will gain an understanding of opportunities for generating revenue from composing, licensing, as well as survey the standard entities and professional roles involved in the industry. Students will be introduced to the basics of working with film and TV studios, filmmakers and producers, agents and managers, publishing, copyright, royalties, and other aspects related to developing one’s own career through media projects. This course will emphasize career readiness through the practice of planning, collaboration, and production, as well as looking at some new and emerging ways to distribute and ultimately thriveas a composer.This course runs from the week of September 3rd to December 16th.The course will be taught
