Some are surprised to learn we don't offer swim lessons and other recreational sports related activities, yet, from its inception, the YWCA of Greater Cleveland has been dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Nationally, YWCA advocates for pay equity and hate crimes legislation, increased funding for Head Start and passing the Violence Against Women Act.

your impact as A FEDERAL & FOUNDATIONS GRANT WRITER

As a full-time Federal & Foundations Grant Writer, you will play a vital role in securing funding for YWCA Greater Cleveland programs. You will collaborate with program managers and stakeholders to gather essential information, craft clear and compelling grant narratives that reflect our mission, and prepare accurate budgets and financial reports. Your strategic planning skills will ensure that grant-seeking efforts align with our organizational priorities, while also monitoring the progress of submitted proposals. By maintaining a comprehensive database and staying updated on best practices, you will contribute to our success in securing vital funding to empower young women in our community.

what we're looking for in a federal & foundations grant writer

To excel in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, along with proven experience in grant writing or a related area. Strong writing skills are essential to craft persuasive narratives, while excellent research abilities will help you identify potential funding sources. Knowledge of budgeting principles and financial report writing is crucial, along with attention to detail and strong proofreading skills.

You must be able to work independently, meet deadlines consistently, and stay organized. Your ability to align grant-seeking activities with our organizational priorities will be key to success in this impactful role.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as English

Communications

or Nonprofit Management.

Proven experience in grant writing or a related field.

Strong writing skills with the ability to craft persuasive narratives.

Excellent research skills to identify potential funding sources.

Knowledge of budgeting principles and financial report writing.
