Job Description

To plan, manage, and direct business intelligence and data science functions leading the Marketing Data Science and Strategy (MDSS) team, reporting directly to the Vice President of Segmentation Strategy and Marketing Analytics. Manage and coordinate production and delivery of business intelligence in the form of dashboards and reports to senior management. Direct large-scale analytic projects to improve marketing and marketing spend optimization. Develop and maintain data and analytics roadmap for the department and investigate and leverage new technologies in data engineering, visualization, and analytics to improve the ability to transform data into a best-in-class marketing analytics framework. Serve as subject matter expert regarding business functions, systems, policies and/or procedures. Manage daily activities of MDSS teammates. Support executive management in developing and executing strategic plans. Work is performed under limited supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead business intelligence development, including requirements gathering, design, production implementation and maintenance
  • Oversee project management of multiple reporting, dashboard development, ad-hoc analysis and data initiatives
  • Create a comprehensive system for monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of marketing efforts and campaigns
  • Evaluate/develop/implement analytical techniques and best practices to gain a competitive advantage
  • Maintain understanding of business direction, environment and strategies and work closely with stakeholders to ensure analytic output addresses business needs
  • Lead team to mine large datasets for new sources of information to better understand drivers of performance and implementation of a comprehensive marketing data strategy
  • Collaborate with ETS and the marketing technology team to design and build the technology infrastructure necessary to achieve data-driven analytic solutions
  • Partner with internal business partners and external vendors to ensure successful data integration/engineering, and data warehousing
  • Ensure that data processing standards, guidelines, procedures, controls and best practices are followed across the department
  • Develop dashboards leveraging best practices in data visualization and champion the use across the department
  • Manage the collection, correlation, analysis, and reporting of data and studies of organizational information to drive operations, business decisions, and enhance marketing analytics and mitigate loss
  • Manage the maintenance of databases to ensure operational efficiency
  • Create a comprehensive system for monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of marketing efforts and campaigns
  • Oversee the development of reports and solutions to establish and strengthen system controls, facilitate process management, data reconciliation, to improve services and products
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of and ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and NFCU policies and procedures
  • Act as subject matter expert in marketing analytics to measure and drive ROI
  • Lead or participate in organization-wide project teams; monitor projects assigned to the department and ensure milestones are completed on schedule
  • Partner with senior management to ensure internal/external regulatory exam preparedness
  • Develop and implement new/updated policies, procedures, goals and priorities as necessitated by demands, changing conditions, and/or management request
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of applicable federal and state, laws, rules and regulations
  • Extensive progressively responsible experience leading and managing an analytics operation in a large financial institution, including operational and regulatory marketing analytics and controls
  • Advanced knowledge of any of the following: asset/liability management, financial accounting, cost accounting, budgeting principles and practices, statistics, finance, and/or mathematic modeling
  • Advanced knowledge of banking/financial industry trends, products and services
  • Extensive experience in the use of statistical modeling software such as SQL, Python, SAS, R or similar programing languages
  • Advanced knowledge of the concepts of asset-liability management
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing analytics, specifically in financial services
  • Extensive experience demonstrating thought-leadership, initiative-taking, decision-making and creativity solving business problems
  • Extensive experience managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals
  • Extensive experience in working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, vendors
  • Extensive experience supervising and leading professional employees
  • Expert organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Expert research, data mining/querying, analysis, and reporting skills, including proficiency in sophisticated statistical methods and modeling, forecasting, and cost/benefit/marketing analysis
  • Expert skill in results-oriented leadership in a challenging environment
  • Expert skill in project management to include establishing and leading project teams; managing timelines/deadlines/resources; ensuring successful project implementation
  • Expert skill presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives and information clearly and concisely
  • Expert skill in producing desired results and achieving goals and objectives
  • Expert skill to influence, negotiate and persuade to reach agreeable exchange and positive outcomes
  • Expert verbal and written communication skills
  • Expert database, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills
  • Master's degree in a Finance, Business Administration, or related field, or the equivalent combination of training, education and experience
