SUMMARY:

The Area Director of Sales works closely with the sales team and the executive team to determine and implement a strategic plan in all markets towards maximizing the hotel revenues. This individual will be entrepreneurial and comfortable with high risk, high reward. The Area Director of Sales must possess a strong ability to coach sales teams to achieve a higher performance. They must accurately forecast sales volumes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee Company branding, brand identification and execution of branding strategies and ensure compliance with all Hotels’ policies and procedures

Work with the leadership and mentor the sales team to implement strategic plans to manage and grow the company’s revenue and market share

Develop sales operating budgets in conjunction with the General Manager

Create and implement strategic sales plans and forecasts to achieve company goals.

Prepare customer proposals, and negotiate contracts on the resort’s behalf upon closing, coordinate and follow up with the other resort departments to ensure delivery of superior guest service.

Maintain a consistent corporate image throughout all events

Conduct outside sales calls to deliver new business and maintain existing business relationships.

Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, conduct outside meetings by taking them to breakfast, lunch, or dinner; meeting for drinks; going off- property to destination attractions, to close businesses

Achieve satisfactory profit/loss ratio and market share in relation to economic trends.

Prepare periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed sales expansion for all properties.

Create and enforce calendarized site inspections to comprehend to the customer’s needs.

Use a consultative approach to understand the potential challenges, and work with the applicable sales team to develop a solution

Provide department colleagues with proper communication that will enhance our ability to deliver exceptional service.

Provide input for sales staff compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team while remaining budget compliant

Coordinate sales training programs to enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE WE’RE SEEKING:

Successful experience in leadership skills managing a sales team both on property and remote team members

Demonstrated abilities to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, and have a high-level attention to detail.

Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish

Ability to diplomatically deal with difficult situations and influence people, while exhibiting a consistent level of professionalism.

Successfully demonstrated selling skills and competencies that are at a minimum above industry average

Comprehensive knowledge of contract negations and operating systems

Able to work with flexible schedules, participate in trade shows, conventions, and promotional events within the hotel, industry, and customer organizations.

Must have an energetic, authentic, and professionally ambitious attitude and strong presentation skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365

: English & Spanish; ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally with other business departments, guests, and vendors. Ability to diplomatically deal with difficult situations and people, while exhibiting a consistent level of professionalism.

Physical Demands

: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to use a keyboard, sit, see, hear, write, and speak. The employee is frequently required to handle (hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with the hand or hands), finger (picking, pinching, fine manipulation), and dial. Occasionally will be required to collate/file, stand, walk, or lift and/or move up to 10lbs.

Mental Demands

: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to produce detailed work, use math and reasoning skills, verbal, and written communication, have customer contact, handle multiple concurrent tasks and constant interruptions. The employee is frequently required to give presentations.

Work Environment

: While performing the duties of this job the employee must maintain a healthy work environment, show respect to colleagues and team members, as well as look after office equipment, tools, and gadgets.
