The full-time digital marketing coordinator will be responsible for crafting social media content, creating editorial calendars, implementing social media campaigns, and the overall coordination and growth of all BPL Presents social media platforms, as well as assist with email marketing and website management. The goal is to further establish and cultivate an online reputation that reflects the BPL Presents brand as a cultural influencer, thus raising the profile of Brooklyn Public Library as a premier destination for arts and culture.

As part of the digital marketing team within Marketing and Communications, the digital marketing coordinator reports directly to our senior digital marketing manager and will sit within the 17-person department, which serves as an in-house marketing and design shop for the departments and branches that make up the organization.

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about marketing as a storytelling medium and passionate about the Library’s mission, is already skilled at digital platforms and tools (or a quick study!), with 2-3 years experience working in fast-paced, client-oriented and highly collaborative team environments.

ResponsibilitiesSocial Media

Oversee the growth of BPL Presents’ social media platforms by raising the number of followers, increasing audience engagement, and creating a positive, insightful experience for our patrons

Promote Center for Brooklyn History programs and events under the guidance of the Senior Digital Marketing Manager and Director of Programs, Center for Brooklyn History

Manage editorial calendar development for all social channels, including content curation and copywriting, ensuring a strategic and ongoing publishing schedule (channels include, but are not limited to: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)

Plan, build and execute social media marketing campaigns through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging, audience identification, ad placement, and the development of contests and book giveaways

Lead communication and coordination with multiple internal departments and external partners to: ensure coherent workflow and implementation of work with all partners; and bring the many facets of the BPL Presents brand’s social presence to the fore, including cross-posting, synching campaigns and occasional live event coverage

Act as a key administrator in the management of our social media management platform

Email Marketing

Responsible for the end-to-end email production process of weekly and monthly email marketing newsletters.

Manage the approvals process by routing email previews to internal stakeholders and implementing all revisions.

Experience using an email marketing platform such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, etc., is a bonus but is not required; we're happy to provide training.

Digital marketing

Build and edit social media ads across Facebook and Instagram for BPL Presents accounts

Track and present reporting and analytics across channels, building and presenting reports as required

Update and maintain the BPL Presents landing page with seasonal spotlights, making copy edits and light website changes as needed. Experience with website content management systems such as Drupal is a plus, but if not, we’re happy to provide training.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, mass communication, and/or digital communications

Experience in social media, or digital marketing publishing and production

Experience using analytical tools to dive deep into metrics for reporting and ability to apply findings to optimize content and timing

Mastery of web or social content management best practices

Experience using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript or other relevant coding languages a plus

Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Canva

Strong project management skills, ability to multitask, and attention to detail

Familiarity with social media content management systems like Sprout Social & Facebook’s Creator Studio a plus

This is a non-union, exempt position with a salary range of $45,000-50,000. Interested applicants should a cover letter and resume.
