Iapparel is seeking an Associate Fashion Designer in the Men's/Outdoor Division. We are looking for a candidate with approximately 2 years industry/design experience in a comparable market. This position will report directly to the Senior designer. The Associate Designer will work with Senior Designer developing the product lines for Men's Workwear, Outdoor, Safety and Lifestyle product and Women's Outdoor Lifestyle division.This position is full time in office located in Midtown Manhattan.The ideal candidate must have:Extensive knowledge on all Adobe programs (i.e. Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat)Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel.Able to sketch/cad in Illustrator, both flat and filling colored and print CADs.Update Seasonal Brand Line Sheets following Senior Designer and Brand Manager's DirectionAbility to render prints and graphics and update from pre-existing artwork files. Understanding of factory file set up for prints and graphics.Create seasonal brand color chip palettesCreate detailed tech packs complete with construction details, BOM, cads, branding/tags and specs (following production block standards)Work closely with the tech designer in development for block specs and production fittings.Clear communication with overseas factories both in development and in bulk.Proactively follow up with overseas factories on development sample status. Maintain and update a detailed development sampling chart.Receive, tag and prepare development samples to review with the brand team as they arrive from overseas factories.Review development samples with the Senior Designer and comment on sampling improvements/adjustments needed to the factory.Update tech packs and line sheets as styling and costing changes are made throughout the season.Review and approve production approvals for artwork (prints and graphics). Comment on fabric and color qualities during development process.Send submits to factories and customers.Work with licensing partners to share branding assets, color direction and fabric qualities as needed.Work cross functionally with sales, production, costing and tech teams.Market Research experience: comp shopping, trend research and fabric knowledge.
