Interested in learning more about this job Scroll down and find out what skills, experience and educational qualifications are needed.Are you ready to combine your IT background with media engineering skills?WGN TV 9 and NewsNation Network headquarters, located in Chicago, has an immediate opening for a full time, IT oriented, Broadcast Maintenance Engineer.The successful candidate will work as part of a team to provide daily and on-going engineering maintenance and operational support for our large operation here in Chicago.WGN and NewsNation are Nexstar Media Group (NXST) companies.The national news cable network currently reaches 75 million television households across the United States.Desired Experience and Skills:Knowledge of current news operations, media production, streaming and IT systems including Ross Overdrive, Florical automation, ENPS newsroom, Bitcentral production and playout, studio and control room equipment, cameras, wired and wireless audio gear, master control and airpath systems, satellite transmission, and streaming encoders, etc.Wheatstone and Calrec audio, Ross Xpression/Tessera and LED Videowalls/Processors experience a plusTroubleshooting skills and ability to understand system drawingsMust be able to read and understand schematic and signal-flow diagramsKnowledge of remote feed technology including Dejero, TVU, Haivision, etc is desirableAbility to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyUnderstanding of IP LAN/VLAN/WAN/VPN networking setups and architecture is a plusIT skills including IP networking concepts and equipment, switches, KVMs, network storage systems, RAID systems, administration, Windows and Linux platforms, etc. is desirableWorking knowledge of common television test equipment including signal generators/analyzers, scopes, etc.Understanding of software applications for media production and distributionGood verbal, written, and people skills plus working as part of a collaborative teamExperience in systems integration and installation a plusRequirements:Five (5) years' experience as an IT technician or maintenance engineer in a media facility is desiredAn Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is a plusAbility to lift 50 lbsKnowledge of common business software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)This position will require shift work which may include nights, weekends, and holidays, along with overtime as situations will sometimes require.This position requires membership in IBEW 1220.#LI-Onsite
