Are you the right applicant for this opportunity Find out by reading through the role overview below.This Director Planning & Design will be responsible for the pre-planning and design phases of all capital projects in their assigned division. This role will manage projects in their division from conception through design development and will then support the construction team from construction documents through occupancy. This will be a highly visible role that will work closely with other platforms within RESO, including construction, environmental stewardship, operations, and finance, along with Divisional Leadership. Specifically, this role will effectively partner with the Strategy & Business Development teams to plan for and realize the built environment needs to successfully advance the divisions strategic initiatives.

The Director Planning & Design will lead the managers planning and design in their market. They will also manage the relationship with all consultants and vendors needed to support our master planning, pre-planning, and design phases of our project lifecycles. They will also be responsible for managing vendor and consultant relationships for all system-wide initiatives requiring architectural or other related engagements. Specifically, this role and the team they lead will ensure projects stay on schedule and on budget and that deliverables outlined in the engagement are adequately met.

This role will also support the development and adherence to our system architectural standards. This role will support the Sr. Directors Planning & Design, Strategy & Business Development Leadership, Operators, clinical leaders, and other RESO teams to drive innovative and sustainable design standards for our care environments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible for the development of market and site-specific planning strategies with senior leadership across select ministries across the health system. Develops and leads multidisciplinary approach to ensure that sponsors, project managers, vendors and others obtain appropriate input from all stakeholders.Responsible for managing vendor contracts ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget, establishing clear scopes, and ensures that vendor and consultant performance is consistent with agreed upon scope.Responsible for partnering with strategic planning teams to achieve strategic objectives involving the built environment, ensuring alignment with system priorities and supporting projects through key approval gateways through the design document phase.Manage long-range market and site-specific master planning efforts including management of the process in which plans are developed and maintained to ensure every market in the division has a current master plan that supports capital planning.Accountable for providing continuous feedback to executive sponsors, senior leadership and others regarding project status.Assimilates emerging conditions and trends in health care and applies it to planning and design efforts across the system.Responsible for providing regular briefs to the Senior Director Planning & Design regarding master plans including project concerns and status updates.Supports the internal/external teams in state and local legislative and regulatory bodies as appropriate to facilitate the approval process for health care facility master planning, land use applications, zoning changes and traffic entitlements.Manages the master planning process for the divisions to ensure all markets have a current plan that is updated on a set cadence.Responsible for ensuring projects in their division adhere to the system's architectural standards to the greatest extent possible.Responsible for providing leadership, and facilitation for real estate planning and design team to meet assigned goals.Supports the resourcing efforts for planning and design projects including vendors and consultants.Supports Planning and Design leadership, executive sponsors, strategy leaders, operations, construction, and other key stakeholders to develop project scope in support of divisional and service area strategies.Supports the RFP process for planning and architectural contractors within the region.Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with authorities having jurisdiction at a global level.Reviews and elevates to the Senior Director Planning & Design architectural add services, planning/design scope change orders, and invoicing within scope of the signatory matrix for projects within the pre-planning through design document phases of the project lifecycle.Supports the Senior Director Planning & Design and the Construction team in ensuring Project Programs, Designs, Budgets, and Schedules are inclusive of all elements required for a complete project.Manages the presentation of design, estimate, and program updates to Senior Leadership as documents progress.Perform all duties in a manner that promotes team success and reflects the Providence Health & Services' Mission, philosophy, and Core Values.Manage and develop the Managers of Planning and Design in their market. This includes resourcing in response to the market needs, hiring, performance management, and development planning.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master's Degree in Architecture, Business or Healthcare Administration; or equivalent education/experience.Upon request: Driving may be necessary as part of this role. Caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving. Caregivers will be expected to provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request.8 years of experience in architecture and design, a portion of which has been in the healthcare industry.6 years of management or applicable leadership experience.2 years of Healthcare experience.2 years of HACI experience (only applicable if role supports markets in California).Demonstrated ability to coordinate and facilitate teamwork with multidisciplinary groups.Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, interpersonal skills, and effective oral and written communication skills.Creative problem-solving skills; ability to negotiate solutions to complex problems to further the goals of the organization.Demonstrated ability to work with senior leadership on complex planning issues that have direct impact on the delivery of care for both the acute care and satellite sites.Demonstrates Providence Health and Services' Mission, Vision and Core Values to customers, employees and visitors; and provides quality services in the performance of work assignments and duties.Project management skills.Excellent reputation and knowledge of design and architecture firms and local jurisdiction having authority.Microsoft office suite to include Microsoft Project.Ability to inspire and develop staff.
