was founded as a 501(c)(3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.The University currently offers the degrees of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Arts in Medical Science, and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy enrolling over 550 students annually with plans to develop other programs and/or colleges. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. The campus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five state region.PNWU is located in Yakima, WA, a city of approximately 95,000 located in the south central part of the state near the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains in a major agricultural and outdoor recreation region. For more information, visit https://www.visityakima.com/.General Summary:Serves as the subject librarian for teaching evidence-based information skills in synchronous and asynchronous classroom, group, workshop, and one-on-one settings. Provides beginner and expert reference support for faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders. Develops web content, subject guides, and publishing services to enhance the scholarly activity of the University.Essential Job Functions:Designs, teaches, and assesses library instructional classes, digital learning modules, and tutorials for individual, small-group, course-integrated, and asynchronous sessions on library resources, evidence-based information skills, literature-based research, copyright, and publication.Advises on faculty, staff, student, and stakeholder projects involving complex literature searching of biomedical databases and science resources.Collaborates with teaching and clinical faculty on creating curricular materials using library resources.Coaches faculty, students, and PNWU affiliates on best practices for publishing scholarly activities, including guidance on predatory journals, open access, copyright, and digital repositories.Develops, promotes, and facilitates library programming and services to support patron engagement with library resources and promote holistic information literacy.Participates on the library advisory committee and represents the library on additional University committees and initiatives.Performs other related duties as assigned and based on departmental need.RequirementsEducation:• Required: Master's Degree accredited by the American Library AssociationExperience:• Required: 1-3 yearsDesired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Skill in effective communication (both written and oral); skill in independent decision making; skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature; skill in problem solving; skill in public speaking; knowledge of computer and network operating systems; knowledge of customer service principles and practices; knowledge of project management principles, processes, and techniques; and ability to apply effective and accurate data entry and typing skills.To ensure full consideration submit:A letter of introduction outlining background and qualifications for the positionDetailed curriculum vitaeContact information for three professional referencesThe job announcement above is not the full job description, but represents the job responsibilities and requirements.
