Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Technical Artist to serve as a primary point of Unity expertise, and to acts as a bridge between game studio artists and engineers to ensure that the player-facing vision for our games is achieved. A strong familiarity with Unity and C# will be required to manage and improve the content creation pipeline, coach game artists on asset implementation, and optimize the performance of effects-heavy content. Other duties include staying on the cutting edge of Unity's many features, and the mentoring and guiding of more junior technical artists.

Essential Job Functions:

Implement art assets in UnityIdentify and solve technical issues related to the art pipelineMentoring of more junior technical artists on the teamProvide artists with technical feedback to ensure the creation of optimized assetsDocument and evangelize best practicesProfiling game performance and applying art optimization techniquesCreation of tools to assist in the artistic pipelineQualifications

Education & Experience:

Bachelor of Arts in art, animation, computer science, or equivalent experienceAt least six years' experience in game developmentAt least four games shipped using UnityRequired Experience:

Unity expertise, including Prefabs, Particle Systems, and MaterialsStrong problem-solving skillsFluency in C#, with a working knowledge of object-oriented programmingWorking knowledge of 2D graphic software (Photoshop preferred)An understanding of artistic concepts and pipelineWorking knowledge of animation state machinesFamiliarity with motion graphics & compositing editors (After Effects preferred)Familiarity with 3D animation & rendering applications (3DS Max preferred)Working knowledge of versioning software (Perforce preferred)Experience working with a team under tight deadlinesSelf-motivated and able to work on multiple projects with minimal directionExcellent organizational skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsWorking knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel and Outlook

Bonus XP:

Experience leading or mentoring, especially other tech artistsProficient in Photoshop and After EffectsExperience working in the slots and gambling industryExperience writing art toolsExperience writing shaders (Cg preferred)Experience with technical documentationExperience with 3D modeling and animationExperience with 2D skeletal animation systems (Spine and Unity 2d Animations preferred)Understanding of UI / UX principles across various platformsFluency in other coding languages, especially JavaScript, MAXScript, and C++
