Office/Unit/Project Description

UNDP is the knowledge frontier organization for sustainable development in the UN Development System and serves as the integrator for collective action to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). UNDP's policy work carried out at HQ, Regional and Country Office levels, forms a contiguous spectrum of deep local knowledge to cutting-edge global perspectives and advocacy. In this context, UNDP invests in the Global Policy Network (GPN), a network of field-based and global technical expertise across a wide range of knowledge domains and in support of the signature solutions and organizational capabilities envisioned in the Strategic Plan.

Within the GPN, the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS) has the responsibility for developing all relevant policy and guidance to support the results of UNDP's Strategic Plan. BPPS's staff provides technical advice to Country Offices, advocates for UNDP corporate messages, represents UNDP at multi-stakeholder fora including public-private dialogues, government and civil society dialogues, and engages in UN inter-agency coordination in specific thematic areas.

On SDG Financing, UNDP's Sustainable Finance Hub (SFH) draws on a critical mass of UNDP expertise, initiatives, and partnerships to support the SDGs and the implementation of UNDP's Strategic Plan. The Hub is an integral part of both the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS) and the Bureau of External Relations and Advocacy (BERA), as part of the GPN.

Being a part of the SDG Sustainable Finance Hub Team, the Graphic Designer will help to ensure a unified design language that supports effective communication of UNDP's service offers on Sustainable Finance. The Graphic Designer will be responsible for conceptualizing and creating visual assets for the SFH, in close collaboration with the communications team.

Scope of Work

Under the overall supervision of the SFH Strategy and Knowledge Specialist, the Graphic Designer will be responsible for:Creating a unified visual look for SFH products, aligned with UNDP's corporate look and design templates that support effective communications around UNDP's work on sustainable finance.Designing knowledge products, PowerPoint presentations and communications materials.Creating infographics and social media templates for SFH communications efforts, including various SFH teams.Creating videos and animations for events, SFH website, social media and other required channels.Contributing to the development of the new SFH website (under development) in collaboration with the communications team and the website development company.The incumbent may also perform other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Institutional Arrangement

The Graphic Designer will work under the direct supervision of the SFH Strategy and Knowledge Specialist and in close collaboration with the SFH Communications Team and other SFH colleagues and UNDP colleagues more broadly on specific efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum academic education Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in graphic design or any other related qualifications including art and design is required. OrA first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree) in the above areas, in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.Minimum years of relevant work experience

Up to 2 years (with Master's degree) or minimum 2 years (with Bachelor's degree) of relevant experience in graphic design.Required skills and competencies

Strong background in graphic design, including the use of design software such as Adobe Design Premium, Photoshop, In-Design, Illustrator, Aftereffect, Animate or similar.Experience in video production is required.Proven experience of graphic design production from start to a published product with knowledge of printing processes (offset and digital) and colour management.Desired additional skills and competencies

Experience delivering designs for reports, communications and knowledge products respecting corporate guidelines.Experience in updating content on Drupal-based websites is an added advantage.Previous experience with the United Nations and especially UNDP is highly desirable with understanding of UNDP's brand policy and guidelines.Experience in designing newsletters in Mailchimp is desired.Required language(s) (at working level)

Fluency in English is a requirement.Travel

Cost of other travel, as deemed necessary by UNDP while performing the outlined functions, shall be at UNDP's expense and in accordance with the applicable UNDP travel policy.
