Description

The Sr. Mechanical Designer supports new product, existing product, and manufacturing engineering activities, by developing design concepts, preparing 3D CAD models and drawings in SolidWorks, preparing BOMs and items the ERP system, and other product engineering documentation. The Mechanical designer will work under the supervision of an engineer yet will have independent work and responsibilities as assigned. The successful candidate will have extensive experience using SolidWorks 3D CAD software, will be highly motivated and driven, detail oriented, a self-starter, and works equally well in a team as well as individually. The successful candidate will also be capable of multi-tasking and managing and prioritizing work. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a manufacturing environment, and a background in SolidWorks 3D CAD and SolidWorks EPDM administrator which will enable them to assist/manage the CAD software/licenses, engineering hardware assets, and EPDM workflows. The ideal candidate will also stay abreast of changes and updates to the CAD and EPDM software and make recommendations for upgrades/updates, changes, and new products which will add capabilities and maximize efficiencies.

Duties and Responsibilities-Prepares concepts for high performance pultruded fiberglass structural products, for overhead electrical power lines (GEOTEK PUPI® Products) and fiberglass poles GEOTEK Alliance Products).Prepares 3D models, parts, and assemblies and maintains the CAD libraryPrepares drawings with GD&T per ANSI Y14.5Sets-up and maintains BOMs and other data in the ERP systemMaintains and executes the revision control system (configuration management)Performs tolerance stack-up analysisSupports the new product development process by preparing quote packages, procuring prototypes, supporting production, and other duties as assignedJob Requirements-

Technical school, 2yr/4yr degree (technical field preferred) or equivalent experience.Minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience as a Mechanical Designer in a manufacturing environment.Familiarity with common materials, coatings, and manufacturing processes, such as steels, aluminum, sheet metal, plastics, machining, welding, painting, metal forming, casting, heat treating, etc.Proficiency in 3D SolidWorks modeling of parts, assemblies, and drawings with GD&T per ANSI Y14.5; Formal GD&T training desirableCertified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA); Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) highly desired.Experience with Tolerance Stack-up AnalysisProven experience with setting up parts in ERP system, and preparing BOMsPhysical Work Conditions-

Time should be split between the floor and the office or meeting rooms ranging anywhere from 25% to 75% on the production floor or engineering labs.While working on the floor there will be work with and around moving machinery, fumes and chemicals.Office work requires sitting at a desk, using a computer and phone.Who We Are:
