Job Description

The Mayor's Office of Community Mental Health (OCMH) coordinates and develops citywide policies and strategies?to fill critical gaps in mental healthcare so every New Yorker, in every neighborhood, has the support they need. The Mayor's Office of Community Mental Health's (OCMH) was codified into the City Charterby Executive Order 68and Local Law 155by the City Council in December of 2021, becoming the first mayoral office dedicated to addressing the mental health ofNew Yorkers. OCMH partners with City agencies to lower systemic and cultural barriers to care, promotes inclusivity and ensures access to mental health services for vulnerable populations. Our commitment to equity, racial justice, and cultural responsiveness underlies all our approaches, centering inclusion and removing stigma through a community-centered, place-based, and strength-based approach that recognizes diverse perspectives and experiences. Our goal is to create a mental health care system that addresses underlying inequities and meets the unique needs of all New Yorkers.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

-Work in partnership with the Senior Director of Communications to develop and execute digital and print communications strategies to reach target audiences and engage stakeholders.

-Collaborate with the Senior Director of Communications and office staff to create content for outreach materials for website, social media posts, newsletters, flyers, and documents.

-Maintain and develop the office's website, mentalhealth.cityofnewyork.us, in collaboration with the Senior Director of Communication and staff to create, curate, and edit content

-Lead reporting of key performance indicators from events and digital communication activities, researching and recommending changes based on the metric analysis.

-Manage end-to-end project management plans of events, workshops, roundtables, and presentations.

-Manage production and review of speeches, remarks, talking points, op-eds, press responses and other written materials.

-Manage development and tracking of responses to general inquiries from the public, including requests for materials and information.

Preferred Skills:

-Three to five (3-5) years of press, communications, design, or publicity experience.-Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field.-Strong writing, outreach, event planning, project management, and reporting skills. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere-Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Teams or similar collaboration platforms.-Proficiency in Wordpress using Visual Composer or Gutenberg Editor-A creative thinker with the ability to think outside the box and brainstorm.-The ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and work autonomously.-Excellent communication and organizational skills.-Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and external partners.-A commitment to discovering and learning new outreach methods and tools.-Passion and commitment to advancing mental health equity and addressing socio-economic, gender, LGBTQ+, ethnic, and other mental health disparities.-An understanding around the nuances of diversity and inclusion.-Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, equity, and accessibility.

Qualifications

1. High school graduation or equivalent and two years of training in an approved technical school in oils, water colors, painting, design, black and white, layout and other art media and seven years full-time paid experience as a commercial artist, four years of which must have been in supervision and planning of art work done by a staff; or

2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1". However, all candidates must have the four years of supervisory experience as described above.
