Summary:

The ASPCA Communications Department is a passionate, collaborative team responsible for leveraging various communications channels to further the organization's mission of preventing cruelty to dogs, cats, equines, and farm animals throughout the United States.

As part of the Communications Department, the Social Media Coordinator will work closely with the Senior Manager, Social Media on content creation and scheduling for the ASPCA social media channels, including ASPCA Right Horse. They will also support community engagement, social media monitoring, tracking metrics and other various tasks needed by the social media team. They will closely follow social media trends and stay connected with various department teams to ensure we're using each channel most effectively to enhance our mission. Another key element of this position will be to monitor and report on conversations in the social media space.

This position is a hybrid on-site/remote role that will work from our 8th Avenue and 92nd Street Offices in New York City at least 2 days/week (with flexibility to work more or fewer days in-office for events as needed). The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, with the ability to work "on-call" during scheduled weekends. Flexibility required to adjust schedule based on events as needed and occasionally work overtime.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Social Media Content Creation (40%)Collaborate with teams and under the direction of the Senior Manager to create and schedule content on ASPCA social media channels in alignment with the social media and integrated calendars.Play a key role to create content that supports ASPCA Right Horse (ARH) channels and ASPCA's overarching social media goals. Strategize new ways to integrate equine social content across TRH channels, ASPCApro channels, and main ASPCA channels.Create content that engages ASPCA's Right Hands Ambassador Program and the Maclay Riders program. Ensure all content posted is accurate, securing appropriate internal approvals from team leaders, program experts and legal.Attend select equine events, video/photo shoots, and deployments to gather social media assets and other content while also gaining a stronger understanding of equine-related and general animal welfare-related issues and topics.Work with teams to help build social media creative, including shareable cards, infographics, etc.Stay up-to-date on new social media trends, bringing new ideas to the table to support ASPCA and Right Horse content and social media goals. Share trends, new channel developments, interesting posts, key influencers, challenges and opportunities that arise during team meetings.Team Collaboration and Communication (30%)

Work closely with teams across the organization, attending team meetings, as well as monitoring Workplace posts, to gather employee-generated content and stories that can be used to engage with our supporters and highlight our lifesaving work.Participate in brainstorms for campaigns and provide social media expertise and consultative support, identifying opportunities for engagement with our supporters.Participate in relevant meetings with program experts and communications stakeholders to plan and align organic content shared across channels.Strengthen relationships with ASPCA Right Horse partners and equine influencers - like Horse Illustrated and Right Hands.Staying up to date on current Ambassadors and Maclay Riders to build new relationships and engage/support our current followers.Identify conferences and webinars to attend with manager approval and share key takeaways with the team.Schedule and facilitate cross-departmental brainstorming meetings, including meaningful way, and take notes.Support supervisor in management and regular maintenance of social media calendar including keeping relevant teams updated on calendar changes, additions, etc.Social Media/Online Monitoring and Metric Analysis (30%)

Work with Social Media Assistant to monitor social media chatter on a regular basis (from both positive & negative perspectives) with a focus on ARH channels direct messages, comments and Facebook groups.Know when to recognize potential issues and raise them with supervisor in a timely manner.Utilize Sprout Social, a social media listening and crisis monitoring platform, to connect with our audience and build our community engagement.Participate in relevant social media conversations when appropriate, and as guided by supervisorBe available on certain weekends and evenings as needed, with advanced notice.Use the response guide to respond and engage with online communities.Track, monitor, and report on social media results and metrics. Strong knowledge and interest in social media platforms, best practices, measurement tools, and current digital trends.Knowledge of equestrian space, including terminology, horse breeds, etc. (preferred)Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.Computer, Internet, and social media savvy.Ability to follow and keep abreast of animal welfare developments, specifically equine news, around the country.Strong passion for animal and equine welfare.Excellent organizational skills.Must be able to conceive, draft, proofread and edit written materials.Strong metrics analytical skills.Ability to effectively manage time and schedules.Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team.Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.Must be able to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment, under tight deadlines.Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs., including domestic animals, and work 8+ hour days. =Displays care and concern for the safety and well-being of self, animals, and others, especially during stressful situations.Able to work collaboratively with other teams who are based around the country.Additional Information:

Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to education, training, experience, location, business needs, internal equity, market demands or budgeted amount for the role. The target hiring range is for new hire offers only, and staff compensation may increase beyond the maximum hiring range based on performance over time. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. The expected hiring salary range for this role is set forth below and may be modified in the future.

The target hiring range for this role is $27.00/hr - $27.88/hr
