The Assistant Director of Marketing and Digital Media will be a self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, think strategically, and have a passion for ideation, innovation, and creativity. Additionally, the selected individual will work with select teams to develop marketing and promotional plans to enhance or increase attendance, program brand awareness, fan experience, and revenue generation. The individual will possess highly effective communication and organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIn consultation with the Director of Marketing and Digital Media, assists in the development of strategic marketing and promotional plans for assigned sports. Upon approval, executes those plans, which may incorporate grassroots, traditional marketing, and digital marketing to maximize fan engagement and revenue generation.Serve as show director for assigned sports by developing gameday run-of-show, scripts, and coordinating videoboard elements to create an engaging game production.Develop and create content for advertising, videoboard, and digital marketing collateral.Coordinate and work closely with department video producers, graphic designers, and communications/social media managers to develop a compelling, creative, and strategic social media content plan.Recommend improvements to marketing and promotional activities for assigned sports and all sports, including gameday elements of contests, announcements, music, giveaways, etc. with a goal of maximizing the fan experience.Create and implement email marketing campaigns to drive revenue and increase attendance, in conjunction with the Director of Marketing and Digital Media.Oversee, train, and schedule the Game Day Assistant program, which consists of 25-30 student workers for the marketing department.Work closely with Athletics’ Multi-Media Rights holder (Learfield) in the successful implementation of contracted events and promotional elements.Be actively engaged in department research and data collection activities.Collaborate with all marketing staff in the development of marketing and promotional efforts for all UConn sports.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in marketing or communications; two years of sports marketing experience; proficiency in the use of Adobe Photoshop; ability to produce digital assets necessary for videoboard; demonstrated knowledge of applicable NCAA regulations; and direct marketing oversight of a NCAA sport program.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMinimum one-to-two years of sports marketing experience in an NCAA Division I FBS collegiate athletic department; experience with Oracle Eloqua email marketing platform; experience with Click Effects; experience with Shoflo; experience with SIDEARM; experience with WordPress and web design; and direct marketing oversight of NCAA Division I sports of football or basketball.APPOINTMENT TERMSThis is a full-time, permanent position. The incumbent must be able to work flexible and irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Relocation assistance is not available.
