792771600The VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Healthcare System is seeking an Anesthesiologist in Harlingen, TX. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive: Authorized for highly qualified individuals. Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP): Authorized.Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.Education:
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.License:
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.Residency Training:
Completion of residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.English Language:
Proficiency in spoken and written English.Preferred Experience:
Board eligible and/or certified in anesthesiology.Clinical practice and management experience.Experience providing regional anesthesia.Experience in ambulatory surgery center environment.Physical Requirements:
Moderate lifting, 15-44 pounds.Light lifting, under 15 pounds.Walking (6 hours); Standing (6 hours).Ability to perform privileges; Independently performs physical exam as appropriate.Duties: The Anesthesiologist is responsible for direct patient care, clinical/administrative supervision of other anesthesia providers, and education of perioperative staff as well as students and residents when required. Primary place of employment is Harlingen but there may be occasions requiring travel to other facilities affiliated with VA TX Valley Coastal Bend to meet patient needs.The anesthesiologist is responsible for ensuring that the complex mission of the Anesthesiology section is met in all phases of patient care, education, and research/administrative functions.Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 0800 - 1630Bargaining Unit Status:
