DescriptionWe are looking for an innovative design leader to join the Worldwide Retail Growth & Development organization and manage a team of store designers. This position will be responsible for the implementation and site adaptation of brand design standards, ensuring that their team is meeting regional code requirements as well as brand standards and guidelines. In this position you will collaborate with and present to internal and external cross-functional teams at many levels. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and has a deep passion for innovative retail design. We are looking for someone who is obsessed with leading and building a team of store designers who are creating world-class shopping experiences for our customers. Outstanding project management and communication skills, both written and verbal are required.Key job responsibilities• Hire and develop a team of store designers who are responsible for executing new store and remodel projects• Assign, manage and prioritize the work load of a team of store designers• Review and provide feedback on store designer’s individual projects, ensuring that store designers are translating brand design standards and concepts in an innovative yet fiscally responsible way• Manage architects and engineers including tracking fees, managing to consultant fee goals, and awarding projects• Present design project work to leadership• Reviewing and tracking the completion of test fits and feasibility studies to inform real estate decisions• Working with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure that projects are on track and accurately reported• Reviewing construction documents, shop drawings and landlord documentation• Participate in strategic initiatives, working cross-functionally to determine the right stakeholders to ensure the best decisions are made for the business.• Define priorities and goals that drive team success that meet short term goals and long-term strategyBasic Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in architecture or interior design• 7+ years of architecture or retail design experience• 3+ years of people management experience• Grocery experience required• Uses expertise and judgment to determine the right stakeholders to inform decisions.• Experience with design development, construction documents, permitting and construction administration• Demonstrated experience with building and health codes, 3D visualization and industry trends• Demonstrated ability to communicate design vision in visual, written and verbal formats• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an extremely fast paced, ambiguous environment• Demonstrated ability to manage simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management and problem solving skills• Proactive and flexible attitude; willingness to take an “all hands on deck” approach• Architecture/ Retail Design - Design Development, Construction / Permit Documentation• Revit, AutoCAD, Enscape, SketchUp software, InDesign and Photoshop experience a plusPreferred Qualifications• Knowledge of current sustainability trends and practices preferredAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $225,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
