They should be self-motivators, able to work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines for Operations, Newsgathering Operations, Media Archive, International Operations, Technology Projects, Technology Infrastructure, News, Programs, Creative, Media Institute, Digital Division, Studies Center, Human Rights.The role is Responsible for operating cameras and lighting equipment in the studio and/or location, ensuring that lighting and camera settings comply with client pre‐set guidelines, to ensure compliance of the final output through camera shot composition, framing, and lighting for live, location and pre‐recorded programs as directed.Travel at short notice and for indefinite periods will be a requirement for this role. The role will also be subject to a rotating schedule that is not fixed.Pay Rate: $95,000-$105,000 Annually**Duties & Responsibilities**+ Working in close collaboration with news producers to edit news packages and current affairs program.+ Edit highly professional and polished video and audio content (including recording of voice over) to air in line with international industry standards.+ Liaise with news, archive, media management to ensure integrity of video and audio material throughout the news production workflow.+ Quality check each edited video and audio package for visual and audio errors and rectify, where necessary to avoid on-air errors.+ Ability to edit quickly framing meaningful news stories for breaking news and on air turnarounds.+ Have an up‐to‐date knowledge with world news and current affairs.+ Perform playback of media direct from edit suite when required by PCR as a backup to normal play out servers.+ Apply the principles of visual storytelling through aesthetically pleasing and technically correct compositions, angles and camera movements and making sure to deliver images with the correct exposure and color saturation.+ Plan and develop the visual presentation of the story in collaboration with the reporter assigned to the news story.+ Comply with and cover live/pre-recorded news or programs by filming sequences in continuity for editing purposes and as directed ensuring of capturing the right frame compositions and following instructions as per news or program requirements.+ Perform camera line-ups, matching camera parameters for color and exposure.+ Test the functionality of all necessary equipment before shooting live studio, location and pre-recorded news or programs (i.e., camera, lenses, monitors, camera robotic systems, CCU for each camera, lighting unit – LED’s, Fresnel, cool light, lighting desk).+ Operate multiple robotic camera control systems.+ Monitor video camera level via waveform monitor for quality control regarding luminance and chrominance levels, maintaining output to industry-set standards and settings.+ Control and balance lighting levels via the lighting desk/lighting control units.+ Arrange and set lighting for live/pre-recorded news, weather, or programs according to the Technical Directors instructions to ensure all color schemes conform to client broadcast standards.+ Perform routine maintenance on all camera and lighting equipment.+ Assemble raw footage and transfer or upload to a computer.+ Follow a script, screenplay, or outline.+ Coordinate with the maintenance team in case of needed maintenance on equipment.+ Available to be deployed in the field and other broadcast centers during demanding news events.+ Perform other duties relevant to the job as requested across the client network.**Skills & Qualifications**+ Fast, adaptable, non‐linear editing skills.+ Effective communication skills.+ Leadership skills.+ Excellent sense of pace and timing.+ Ability to visualize the written word and express it in pictures and sound to achieve the producer's or journalist’s vision.+ Skill to edit creative or meaningful sequences from available footage.+ Having an eye for detail.+ Having a high level of computer literacy.+ Fluent in English. Fluency in Arabic is an advantage.+ Creative Video skills.+ An editor/camera person should have a comprehensive operational knowledge of their editing software and hardware.+ Knowledge of the general systems, practices, and broadcast standards within a wider news/operational environment.+ An understanding of voice‐over recording and sound mixing.+ An understanding of how to use and incorporate graphical elements.+ A good knowledge of color‐correction and legalization techniques.+ Knowledge of news and current affairs+ Broadcast standards including HD 1080i, SDI, AES/EBU, MPEG, PAL 625, NTSC.+ Operation of Broadcast TV Cameras, lighting, and sound equipment.+ Operation of MAC computers and nonlinear edit software.+ International news and current affairs.+ Creative Editing.+ Handling criticism.+ Ability to work well alone or with other people.+ Multi‐tasking+ Being highly organized.+ Ability to anticipate problems well before they happen.+ Ability to remain calm and confident in stressful situations.+ A constant willingness to learn and improve.+ Having the flexibility to deal with unexpected problems and varied personality types.+ Broadcast standards including HD 1080i, SDI, AES/EBU, MPEG, PAL 625, NTSC.+ Operation of Broadcast TV Cameras, lighting, and sound equipment.+ Operation of MAC computers and nonlinear edit software.+ International news and current affairs.**Education & Experience**+ Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Film, Media, or Journalism.+ 5 years’ work experience in broadcast television within a non-linear video editing role in a television news environment.
