The team is responsible for designing the core member experience worldwide and creating personalized entertainment experiences that help members discover and connect with the content they love.We do this by defining the app architecture and foundational user experience strategic frameworks; ensuring excellence and platform innovation for TV, Mobile, and Web experiences; prioritizing personalized content discovery; leveraging human-centered AI; and ensuring each member’s experience on Netflix reflects what they truly value based on their tastes and preferences.This role supports the Member Experience product teams, which strive to make finding the right title on Netflix intuitive and compelling with relevant recommendations tailored to members’ needs.About YouThis role focuses on making Netflix feel personalized for you by maintaining a dialogue with our members, deeply understanding their preferences, and reflecting that understanding back to them enabling each member to find entertainment they will love.This is an opportunity to lead innovative product design with a demonstrable impact on a global scale. Using your full range of interaction, visual, and product-thinking skills, you’ll lead and own product features. You balance a passion for AI and creating highly functional and emotionally resonant experiences with a strong desire to understand user behavior and business success. You’re comfortable switching between vision-level, defining UX frameworks, and hands-on pixel-level work. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams who are charged with revolutionizing how entertainment is consumed and how storytelling is showcased by delivering engaging, inclusive experiences to members.You’ll thoughtfully question the status quo and look closely at how we can push the user experience further with emerging technologies. You thrive in uncharted territories where design hasn’t historically found itself or where the rules and engagements aren’t already established. How do the user experience, underlying logic, recommendation systems, and tooling all fit together? You’ll define strategies and design solutions that will bring this vision to life, then work with cross-functional partners to execute against it.What You’ll Do+ Define and lead the vision for personalized experiences leveraging evidence systems and effective merchandising strategies.+ Lead a multi-disciplinary team to ideate, test, and align on merchandising principles and patterns. Determine a design strategy that reflects what Merchandising means at Netflix to our members, and inspires the business to push boundaries.+ Articulate a vision and contribute to strategic decisions about the future direction of designing member experiences that leverage evidence, metadata, and assets to promote and reengage with content in a personalized way.+ Define an engagement model with teams across the business. Collaborate with teams innovating around merchandising strategy and tactics to leverage and integrate into our design system. Work closely with the Netflix Design Systems team to design, document, and support a Merchandising Design System.+ Identify and define product opportunities and create elegantly simple solutions to complex problems.+ Implement a human-centered design process from concept to launch.+ Clearly communicate design rationale and iterations to partners and stakeholders.+ Create the Merchandising Design System roadmap by blending product-oriented, short-term objectives and long-term vision.+ Collaborate with a cross-functional team spanning merchandising, consumer research, data science, product management, and engineering to test, iterate, and launch features that advance our mission of connecting members with the best Series, Films, Live and Games.+ Provide systems thinking for large-scale design and evidence systems, both strategically and tactically.+ Employ storytelling to present a vision to create a shared understanding of the UX strategy with the broader team. Apply big-picture thinking to break down ambiguous opportunities into an actionable roadmap.+ Champion our members and a global-first mindset.+ Give and solicit feedback to maintain quality and craft.+ Embrace experimentation, A/B testing and zero-to-one innovation.Qualifications+ 10+ years of experience designing user experiences for consumer-facing products across mobile, web and/or TV. Discovery, merchandising or search-related experiences are a plus.+ Experience designing and shipping large-scale personalized products focused on merchandising.+ Understanding of the intersection of User Experience and AI, as well as the intersection of user journeys and merchandising lifecycles.+ Understanding of merchandising challenges, strategies, and tactics for a large and diverse catalog of offerings+ Excel in interaction design, visual design, and prototyping skills for defining how an experience should function and look based on understanding people's needs.+ Ability to think at a high level about product strategy and articulate a vision.+ Track record of designing and shipping products and leading projects to successful outcomes for global users and the business.+ Ability to navigate ambiguity, and drive clarity that brings the user, technology, and business together.+ Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate the rationale behind your design decisions. Experience presenting work to a broader product team and leaders, clearly and succinctly articulating goals and concepts.+ Experience connecting the dots across the organization with other related initiatives across the company while driving collaboration.+ An insatiable curiosity for user experiences powered by AI, machine learning, algorithms, and recommendation systems.+ Known for high-quality craft, both in the holistic design approach and detailed executionCompensation RangeGenerally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $240,000 - $725,000BenefitsNetflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
