This position reports to the Associate Dean of Innovation and Resource Management and receives work direction from the Director of User Experience.The Coordinator works directly with SJSU colleagues and external customers to plan and implement event and A/V setups in library event, meeting and learning spaces. The Coordinator ensures excellent customer service and user experiences during the planning and carrying out of library events, both personally and through the supervision of their student assistant team. The Coordinator prepares reports on event activities and space usage. They provide advice to library administration in regards to improving event spaces and planning, as well as recommending and implementing new A/V equipment and relevant technologies. The Coordinator is responsible for supervision of student assistant work efforts, training, budgets, and scheduling in appropriate areas.This position contributes to the University Library’s commitment to bringing anti-racism practices into library services and operations by supporting strategic initiatives in this area and ensuring alignment with the library’s core values of equity, diversity, and inclusion.Key Responsibilities+ Manages event, meeting and learning space reservations through direct communication with internal and external stakeholders; consults with SJPL counterpart as needed.+ Provides assistance in the plan, design, and execution of events and meetings in King Library.+ Supports approved use of technology and A/V equipment, to include livestreaming and broadcasting services, in library meeting rooms and learning spaces by internal and external individuals and groups.+ Makes recommendations for and implements new services and A/V technology for Media Services, in collaboration with library and campus staff.+ Hires, trains and supervises student assistants to support event and media services activities in King Library.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, students, and staff of various social, cultural and educational backgrounds, vendors and the general public.+ Ability to ensure problem resolution with technology and A/V equipment through personal intervention or escalation to IT technicians.+ Ability to perform needs assessment for library users to recommend changes and improvements in spaces, services, and technology.+ Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment; handle multiple work priorities, organize and plan work and projects.+ Ability to supervise student personnel including selection, training and scheduling, while organizing workflows and delegating responsibility.Required Qualifications+ High school education or equivalent certification.+ Four years of related library and/or clerical experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.Preferred Qualifications+ Experience with event management in an academic setting.+ Experience with audio/visual equipment configuration and support.+ Experience supervising customer-focused services and/or teams.CompensationClassification: Library Services Specialist IVAnticipated Hiring Range: $5,972/month - $6,200/monthCSU Salary Range: $4,198/month - $7,745/monthSan José State University offers employees a comprehensive benefits package typically worth 30-35% of your base salary.
