The Teen Librarian (Librarian 1) is responsible for engaging teens in a vibrant library setting. The role requires creativity, enthusiasm, and a strong understanding of teen culture in order to provide both educational and recreational support. The Teen Librarian is an integral part of the Youth Services Team and must be able to perform these essential duties:+ Collection Development: Select and manage materials for the teen collection, ensuring it meets their interests.+ Program Planning: Design and implement educational and recreational programs, such as summer reading and gaming tournaments, and assess their effectiveness.+ Outreach: Promote library services and programs to teens through local schools and community groups.+ Technology Assistance: Help teens with computer use, digital research, and tech-related questions.+ Teamwork: Collaborate with the Youth Services Team and other library staff to develop and improve library services and participate in meetings and training.+ Student Volunteers: Assists members of the Teen Advisory Board in developing and planning engaging activities and programs for teens.The Teen Librarian 1 is an entry level position in the Librarian job family and works collaboratively with the Youth Services Team. Participates in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities. Assists the Management Team, other library staff and key stakeholder to develop policies, procedures, workflows and sustainable approaches for a variety of library programs and services to support overall library operations and goals.Location: Camarillo Public LibraryHours per Week: 40Job Classification: Full-Time, Non-ExemptHourly Rate: $23.75Responsibilities:• Coordinates and executes a variety of programs and initiatives for for the library• Evaluates basic statistical data and prepares basic statistical reports and surveys for the library, LS&Smanagement and other entities i.e. local government/customers• Processes, creates and edits bibliographic and item records for the library catalog• Provides reference and computer help to patrons• Serves on committees and at times may serve as the chairperson for committees• May handle opening and closing responsibilities; counting money, completing daily cash reports• Be responsible for the collection management process• Be a proficient readers advisor• May supervise junior Library Associates which includes managing performance, evaluation,interviewing/hiring, training and approving timesheets• Know and understand the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to ReadStatement and Freedom to View Statement, recognizing that freedom of access is a fundamental tenetof a public library.
