Performs related duties as required.Security guards will not carry weapons or firearms. Works on a rotation being on call for after-hours alarm calls.**Must be capable of walking/patrolling a building six to eight hours a day.**Located in the heart of Music City, The Nashville Public Library boasts 4 million visits annually and maintains a collection of 2 million items, including a one-of-its kind civil rights collection. If this environment is appealing to you, then you might want to consider a job at the public library.* If you have recently applied for this position, you do not need to reapply.*Typical Duties+ Patrols library property on foot or with a vehicle.+ Maintains order and calls for police assistance when needed.+ Enforces Library Rules of Conduct.+ Monitors and operates various security devices/systems.+ May file arrest warrants on behalf of the library and appear in court as a witness.+ Prepares written and oral reports as needed.+ May lead and coordinate the work of contract security officers.+ Gives direction and provides other information to employees and the public.+ Acts as key responder for emergency after hour calls.Minimum QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh School Diploma OR equivalentLICENSES REQUIREDValid Driver LicenseEmployees must complete a forty (40) hour training program prior to completion of the probationary period.Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078.
