Consult with stakeholders and plan logistics, including registration and attendee tracking, presentation and materials support, and pre- and post-event evaluations.The position is located in the Stanford Cancer Institute (SCI), one of an elite number of National Cancer Institute-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the country. The SCI is a prominent, dynamic, growing, and complex Institute within the Stanford University School of Medicine. The SCI actively works to build synergies and collaborations among faculty with cancer-relevant expertise from four Schools and over 30 departments across Stanford University. Given the SCI’s mission, breadth, and depth, it employs over 325 staff members in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and forward-thinking environment with tremendous opportunities for personal and professional growth.The SCI Events Planner will help enact the SCI mission to reduce cancer mortality through comprehensive programs of cancer research, treatment, education, and outreach. You will work with an unparalleled leading-edge community of faculty and staff who are fundamentally changing the world of health care in the cancer arena.Reporting to the Director of Strategic Communications and Events, the SCI Events Planner will plan and execute Stanford events, such as seminars series, symposiums, think tanks and other related events. Consult with stakeholders and plan logistics, including registration and attendee tracking, presentation and materials support, and pre- and post-event evaluations.You should be conversant in the goals, mission, and priorities of the Institute and utilize this knowledge to promote the SCI’s research, education, and community outreach to wide variety of audiences. We are seeking candidates with the ability to manage multiple strategic projects simultaneously. Our staff run toward challenges, and candidates will have a demonstrated history of doing the same with a high degree of professionalism, initiative, and flexibility. Responsibilities include delivering Stanford Cancer Institute signature events to reach parity with other National Cancer Institute designated cancer centers, developing event collateral, and serving as a project leader on smaller scale events.**Duties include*:**+ Design, plan, implement, and coordinate customized events.+ Evaluate and select vendors and providers of services considering stakeholder requests and requirements.+ Serve as a member of an events team, and contribute in a wide variety of functional areas including decisions around budget allocation, event logistics and facilities.+ Consult with stakeholders to determine objectives and requirements.+ Inspect event facilities to ensure they conform to the event needs.+ Manage accounting operations relating to registration, including daily accounting procedures and reports, final monetary summaries, and/or account transfers.+ May serve as project leader on smaller scale events, coordinating teams that plan, implement, and manage all aspects of events or manage program elements of larger scale events.+ Utilize and/or maintain complex databases. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position.
