Position Compensation Range:$95,000.00 - $156,000.00Pay Rate Type:Salary_Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location._The Lead Communications Specialist leads communication strategy and execution as it relates to American Family’s strategic priorities. You will work closely with executive leaders to provide expert counsel as well as content creation concepts that may be shared internally, externally, or both. You will be a thought leader and understands how to tailor communications and campaigns to targeted audiences, while also considering the environment in which content will be received. You will partner regularly with senior leaders and communications team members to plan, review and create relevant content in support of our enterprise strategic priorities. You will report to the Director, Communications.In this flex office/home role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from one of the following office locations: Madison, WI 53783; Boston, MA 02110; Denver, CO 80112; Eden Prairie, MN 55343; Keene, NH 03431; St. Joseph, MO 64507; Phoenix, AZ 85034; Nashville, TN 37214Internal candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of location and will be considered based upon the needs of the role.Relocation Support Offered for Eligible CandidatesJob Description Primary Accountabilities+ You will lead the development of the overall strategy and messaging as a member of the Communications division’s leadership team.+ You will work collaboratively with and provides communications coaching for strategic leadership team members.+ You will direct communications support for assigned senior leadership and executives, provides direct support to senior leaders on strategic issues.+ You will respond to unexpected communication needs with calm and professionalism that produces results.+ You will effectively represent the company as spokesperson, if needed.+ You will define work plans to organize the communications, campaigns, projects or events into tasks; estimating time, budget and resources needed.+ You will serve as a subject matter expert by providing advisement, coaching and feedback to fellow team members.+ You will build and maintain relationships with key leaders, business partners, media, etc.+ You may lead functional teams or projects and lead others to solve complex problems.Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements+ Demonstrated experience coaching and advising senior executives, including on external/news media communications.+ Demonstrated experience developing and managing communication and/or news media plans, identifying issues and risks that may impact strategies.+ Demonstrated experience developing and implementing communication strategies, including those with external communications components.+ Extensive knowledge and understanding of communication tools, including intranet, social media, video, etc.+ Solid knowledge and understanding of change management principles and their application to communications to move audiences from current state to future state.\#LI-HybridWe encourage you to apply even if you do not meet all of the requirements listed above.
