Overall, the faculty is committed to excellence in research and teaching. In addition to managing the curriculum and instruction for the undergraduate marketing concentration, the department oversees the College’s sustainable business concentration. In addition, the department broadly contributes to the College’s MBA programs and oversees a certificate in Marketing Management. The department supports a behavioral research lab, as well as two centers of excellence – the Center for Marketing and Social Impact and the Sales Center. Specific responsibilities include: mentor faculty; provide leadership of undergraduate and graduate academic programs; conduct annual evaluations of faculty and staff; initiate recommendations for appointments, promotions, and tenure; administer the department budget; prepare class schedules and teaching assignments; work with the faculty to set the strategic direction of the department and create alignment with the College’s strategic plan; foster an inclusive environment for faculty and staff; reinforce the CSU Principles of Community and College/University diversity and inclusion initiatives; manage academic and financial matters within the department to promote student achievement, faculty excellence, and department morale; collaborate with other departments on educational and research matters affecting the department, college and university; guide the department in assessment and accreditation efforts; engage with corporate partners; and lead departmental fundraising and alumni relations efforts. In addition, the department chair is charged with publishing research in top marketing journals and participating in faculty teaching duties.This position calls for a strong leader who will be an advocate for the department and foster excellence in teaching, research and service activities while also enhancing the department’s reputation.One of five academic units in the College of Business, the Department of Marketing has a strong record of teaching and research accomplishments and expects faculty members to be active in their disciplinary community. The department currently includes 11 tenure-track and five contract/continuing faculty focused on instruction. In addition to its extensive contributions to the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration core curriculum, the department serves over 700 undergraduate students pursuing department-led concentrations (Marketing and Sustainable Business). In addition, approximately 220 undergraduate students are pursuing undergraduate certificates managed by the department (Business to Business Selling, Customer Experience Management, Market Research & Data Analytics, Marketing Communication & Branding, Strategic Marketing, Music Business). It is also noteworthy that the department contributes to the Business Minor. At the graduate level, the department supports the College’s MBA programs, which include a part-time evening program, online program, and the top-ranked (daytime) Impact MBA .Conditions of EmploymentPre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires)Required Job QualificationsCandidates must have a doctoral degree in marketing or a closely related field, as well as a record of research, teaching, and service that meets or exceeds current (Department of Marketing, College of Business, Colorado State University) standards for appointment as a full professor. In addition, they must have a strong, ongoing research agenda.
